i have to ask: what kind of security were you running?

i didn't mean to sound insensitive about my wheel post above, but that's how they found my friend's civic awhile back when they stole it for the 15" GSR wheels he had on them. the police found it still running with a screwdriver in the ignition and one lug nut holding each donut to the car on residential back lane in east van after a homeowner called it in (it was blocking his garage door).

KingKaze 03-25-2014 12:35 PM

This is why I'm always sketchy about parking in a place where I can't get to my car or away from it for a long time. I got a blue 99 sir coupe and even with my compustar I still get worried. I'll keep an eye out, I always look at SI coupes while driving.

ali36 03-25-2014 12:57 PM

Perfect thanks man appreciate it ^!

all could've prevented from a simple $15 wheel lock. Can't trust your electrical technology like alarm system.

ali36 03-25-2014 02:12 PM

I'm thinking it should show up soon there was not much gas left in it unless they decided to fill it up. Don't really think a wheel lock would've helped , most likely just delayed them as they would've just cut the steering wheel.

I guess you never googled how to remove those without a key. I've known people who lose the wheel lock keys and they call me to remove it. It takes less than a minute a wheel.

I have to ask, but what makes you think it will be parked in an underground or in plain sight, or that it's already on bricks? Sorry but when i read that last night my first thought was "so he already knows where it is, and is waiting for someone else to find it?"

^I'm talking about steering wheel lock. And for a steering wheel lock, you will have minimum 2 keys if you buy a new one.

Are you talking about the removal of the steering wheel, with the lock cap? I was deciding on buying one or not. If its that easy its just a little more hassle to them in the long run.

Awesome car found by the Burnaby police! Apparently nothing stolen. Crises averted :) thanks everyone

keep us informed ali36.

you said nothing stolen, but no mention of damage?

make sure you get a thorough mechanical checkup to make sure it wasn't thrashed. and look for drug paraphanelia(sp?)... not joking. last thing you need is a used needle sticking you from between the seat cushions :(

jtanner_ 03-26-2014 10:42 AM

Glad you found your car, hope nothing was damaged.

When someone broke into my car a couple years ago I felt so... violated just sitting in the seat knowing that a thief was just rummaging through the car. Definitely not good feels.

Jmac 03-26-2014 11:14 AM

Good to hear that they recovered your car.

meme405 03-26-2014 01:22 PM

Another happy ending. This has just been a feel good year on RS so far.

Now if only we could figure out what happened with the Jeep dude and Cement.

I wish I knew the license plate at the time, I was on knight street bridge and saw a si with tint and same rims, are those stock? I'm not sure but he was heading towards New West. Hope that helps, but probably just another SI on the road.
