LaFerrari gets horrible gas mileage for a hybrid

This is pretty sad, the LaFerrari only gets 16.6mph
"The company said the LaFerrari gets 16.6 mpg, compared with 15.9 mpg for the F12, and 13.8 mpg for the Lamborghini Aventador."
Geneva Car Show 2013: Ferrari Unveils V12 Hybrid LaFerrari [PHOTOS]

In comparison, the McLaren P1 gets 34mpg
P1 Stats

and the Prosche 918 gets 85 to 94mpg
The 887 HP Porsche 918 Spyder Will Get '85 To 94' MPG

I don't know what's wrong with Ferrari, seems like they need to develop better hybrid system

guys who buy cars at this level also care about bragging rights, so as stupid as it sounds guys shelling out $1m+ for a car, gas mileage does matter from a bragging rights perspective.

Also with the way Formula One is evolving with a focus on fuel flow and power from energy recovery, this is going to change how everyone looks at power and fuel efficiency.

Look at Ferrari's F1 car, they are clearly behind Mercedes and Red Bull on the harvesting and utilization of energy recovery. Also with their halo car having bad gas mileage, thius will also make customers think twice about Ferrari's technical prowess Vs their competitive set.

For cars at this level, horsepower & speed bragging rights is going to trump fuel economy every time.

Do you really think two rich guys are going to have a conversation like:

"My LaFerrari gets 16 MPG"
"Yeah well my Porsche 918 gets 20 MPG"

No.

It's more like:
"My Porsche 918 has 887 hp"
"Yeah well my LaFerrari has 963"

People buying LaFerrari don't care. It's not like it's going to be a DD. Will be lucky to drive 5000 km's a year in it.

I agree, and the Porsche 918 guy will say..."my 918 beats your LaFerrari around the Nurburgring and gets better fuel mileage" hahaha?

918 vs. LaFerrari. Both beautiful machines.

The main issue is you can't tell a LaFerrari owner to go buy a GTR because his answer will be, "I did buy a GTR. After 3000 km, I gave it to my butler."

I would say yes. LaFerrari sucks for its price point.

Ferrari is clearly behind McLaren and Porsche.

Both Porsche and McLaren can run Nurburgring is less than 7 min.
LeFerrari is yet to accomplish this number.

Moreover, McLaren is now aiming for 6:30.

It's not only about fuel economy, it's more about technology, refinement, craftsmanship, etc.

Murcielago and Viper can go fast too but they only get like 7mpg.
Whereas Porsche and McLaren go faster and get 35+mpg.

The new Lexus LF-LC, BMW i8, Acura NSX, Infiniti Emerg-E and Jaguar CX75, etc. will all be hybrid.

I could care less if Ford and Chevy for example come up with 10 or 11 second 1/4 mile supercar if it only gets 3mpg.

I think we're forgetting that 16mpg is coming from a car making 900hp, my S10 only makes 190hp and it gets 15mpg, the Ferrari is actually sort of impressive.
