need some advice, experiences before going to doctor.

This is embarrassing but I would like to ask if anyone here has past experiences with blood after bowel movements? in the waste and after wiping...this has been happening the past 2 months. I thought it is something small so I did not make a doctors appointment until recently when I realized it has been occurring every time. I have been feeling normal and fine as always. I am not constipated or anything that I know of. I do not have trouble going to the washroom. My stomach and everything is feeling okay, no pains.

This is nothing to be embarrassed about. Go see the doctor immediately. A relative of mine was diagnosed with cancer in the large intestines. They had to remove a few feet. His first symptoms were constant blood in the stool. I'm not saying you have cancer, but definitely go see a doctor.

Serious matter. See doc asap. Especially if the bowels are black as is indicates bleeding from the top of your digestive tract.

oh god, I am very scared once in my life. I am seeing doctor thursday earliest. Some days it is bloody, some days not, but its either really dark or faint. I hope it is not cancer..I though it was only in elderly people 60+?

don't freak yourself out. there are many causes of dark/black stool. doesn't mean cancer should be ruled out but stressing out more won't do you any good and cause you to believe you have more symptoms than you actually do. you'll most likely get a blood test to see if you're hemoglobin levels are low and the doc will start you on proton pump inhibitors (to stop/slow down the bleeding). he will most likely order a colonoscopy for them to determine where the bleeding is and whether or not they want to take a tissue sample to examine it. until then, think positively. it could be as simple as a GI bleed.

Maybe ur poops were too big, and you've torn a bit of your anus? I mean that completely straight faced. It happens

This. Symptoms can mean anything and can cover a wide range of illnesses. My late grandmother had blood in her stool and unfortunately, it was stage 4 colon cancer. Was terrible news but that's what happens when you deny going to the doctor because you are scared of what it is. It was also depressing knowing that if caught sooner, the survival rate can be as high as 80%

I did recently have my blood tests and everything came out normal. How does colonscopy work? I am guessing I have to let them shove a tube up my butt? =[

some days, it is painful after going to the washroom, I think there is a tear but I don't think a tear can have so much blood after wiping and in the fecal matter...If this does turn out to be cancer, I don't know what I would do. I cannot tell my family as it will lead to more stress. I appreciate all the support

Yup but a barium enema is worse, I've had both. When they did the colonoscopy they were like, you can watch on the TV.............That's alright I hope you don't mind if I just close my eyes and think of a better place.

I had a lot of stomach issues a bunch of years ago. I was sick for over 3 years, seen a bunch of specialists and they never figured out what was wrong with me. I reached a point where I said no more tests and lived with it, luckily for me it got better over time. I hope they figure out what's wrong with you. Don't stress yourself out to much it can be a lot of things and odds are it's nothing to serious that can't be treated. When I was sick blood on the TP was a normal thing the whole time, 3 years is actually probably not even right it was probably closer to 5 but over time it was less and less. For the record I wouldn't recommend doing what I did, I just got so sick of seeing Doctor after Doctor and none of them having any idea what was wrong with me I just got frustrated with the whole thing.

Maybe your'e just allergic to gluten

Good call on going to the doc, especially since it's been going on for a couple of months. Could just be some type of irritable bowel syndrome, so don't stress, that makes it worse.

Sometimes when I take a dump and the crap is huge and hard that my "asshole" bleeds. Since OP has been experiencing for a few months, I don't think it would be related to big hard dumps...

sometimes it is either dark red or bright red, some days no blood at all. My ass does sting at the end sometimes lol. But yeah, I eat mostly rice, fish, beef, chicken on a regular basis. I do eat brocoli here and there, milk, and I have been drinking ensure drink almost everyday but I doubt that is the reason because this started way before that. I barely eat fruits...maybe once every two weeks or so.

I am not too sure if I have any allergies, what are the symptoms usually?

that really sucks, I would totally hate to have to go through that. Sometimes its great when our body just heals itself overtime with eating right and exercise. I hope thats my case when I find out. Do they usually set up an appointment to go to a specialist after I go to the doctor? I mean, if it was internal bleeding or something serious, I am guessing I wouldn't really be okay to be sitting here right now huh?

quasi 04-17-2014 05:29 AM

Go to your GP he'll probably send you for a fecal test they'll check for parasites. If that comes up negative and you're still having issues he should refer you to a specialist who will probably start off by sending you for the same test. Depending on there findings they may require more tests such as the ones I've listed above or maybe they have less intrusive ones my issues were 10 years ago now. I really wouldn't be that concerned, you only need worry about what you can control and odds are it's something treatable.

I've had this before from not eating enough of something. Either that or from squatting heavy weights while doing something wrong.
I'm no doctor, but if it's bright red when you wipe your butt and all the poop is gone it could very well be the anus.
