Weird Lag Problem: Some help plz

I got a rather weird lag problem...hoping someone can help me find a solution

my laptop started getting a consistent intermittent lag since last week (It is like a windows lag where the word I type lag about 1-2seconds)
  • The lag is not random, it comes on precisely every 6.3seconds (yes I timed it), and last 1-2 seconds.
  • The lag doesn't happen when I start/restart the PC, but usually comes on after a few hours. Once it happens, I can only restart to make it go away.
  • The lag seems to only affect my typing (i.e. my mouse movement, network and clicking into folders, etc doesn't lag)
  • Despite this, I know it is my network connection causing the lag, because the lag would go away immediately after I unplug the network cable! (and comes back on immediately after I plug it back in)
  • I have other PC connecting to the same router w/o the problem.
  • Already updated all windows and ethernet /LAN drivers, no help.

Any idea...?

something more to add on:

The CPU/Memory usage does not spike or changes when it lags

if your lag is affecting your typing like when in Word or notepad, then the lag is not caused by the network connection

try re-seating your RAM and see if that helps.

What about the network monitor under Task Manager? are there any spikes?

You sure you didn't get infected with some type of malware?

i experienced something like this. laptop's fine, but 30 seconds into a game of cs, it lags. even when i exit the game, my desktop lags. the only fix was to restart my laptop. i reinstalled windows and updated all of my drivers, but still had the same problem.

i realized i hadn't heard my fan come on in a while. the fan usually kicks in when i start gaming. i ran the diagnostics and found that the fan had failed. i took my laptop apart for shits and giggles and found the fan disconnected. i serviced my laptop and had the motherboard replaced TWICE, this time around, the tech forgot to connect the fan. it's been working find ever since.
