100km/hr in a 80km/hr zone
 

Just got a speeding ticket for passing a cop on the left most lane while she was doing 80 km/hr.

Lane was completely empty and i still got pulled over.

I know I was disobeying the speed limits but wtf? who goes 80km/hr on highway 1 with 3+ lanes on a sunny day like this?

just want some info about my situation

also i saw her let people do 60 in a 40 construction zone earlier so that's why i thought passing from the left most lane wouldn't be a problem

not sure why you would pass her going 100.

So let me get this straight. The law states the speed limit is 80km/h.. You saw a COP (which is by the way, an enforcer of the law, if you didn't know).. Yet you decided to pass going 100km/h, 20 km/h over the limit. Also, according to your logic, you saw others breaking the law, therefore thought it would be okay for you to do it as well..

I drive highway 1 daily and see people passing marked cop cars at 110km/hr,
im not asking if im at fault cause i obviously am

but im just pissed about the inconsistencies in the way officers can hand out tickets

So do you have a question OP, or just venting? There's a difference between people going 10-20 over the speed limit, and people who KNOWINGLY sees and acknowledges a cop car, and still decides to go 10-20 over the limit. It's pretty much a slap in the cop's face. At least that is how I feel.

First off i'm amazed you found a cop going the speed limit. Second, don't you know when there's a cop in front of you that you're supposed to do the exact limit like the law abiding angels we are?

^exactly what I was gonna say. Every time I see a cop on the highway they are usually going 90-100km/h so traffic just keeps pace with them

haha ... I drive highway 1 everyday. I don't drive at 80 km/hr (I'm usually in the HOV) but at the same time I don't blast by cops. Come on, passing a cop at that speed is asking for it. If the cop is doing 80 km/hr and you're doing 100 km/hr you're obviously going to attract their attention because you're blasting by them.
