I've heard cats don't need much attention and you still get the benefits of having an animal around. Not that this video made me want a cat more, but it's nice to see that some seem like they have a protector type roll.
Anyone have a cat that regrets getting one? | My wife and I both love dogs, a LOT. But you're right, they need a lot of care and attention. They need to be taken out at least twice a day, for around half an hour each time. EVERY DAY. We just don't have that much time, at least consistently, to properly care for a dog. Everything from traveling for a weekend to staying out all day and night, everything has to be planned around the dog. Instead, we just play with the dogs living in our village..
We have cats, and they are awesome. As for attention, you just have to make sure they are fed and their litter box is clean, and that's about it. You can go out all day or overnight and they'll be fine, just leave extra food for them.
They aren't as loyal or attention seeking as dogs, but still make great lovable pets. And they aren't always completely aloof. One of our cats - the one who isn't a complete moron - really does care if you're sick or upset or hurt. He'll come up to you and check up on you if you're hurt and it's really touching. I hurt my back a while ago and was sitting in bed in great pain about to get up. He came up to me, stood on his hind feet, and gave me a kiss on the nose.. that made my wife cry :lawl:
I love all animals, from dogs to cats to insects, birds, and reptiles. But you have to choose the pet that matches up with your lifestyle.
As a side note I see a lot of stick bugs around my village and I am SO tempted to take one home and keep it as a pet... Just seems so cool |
