Ice Cream.. Share your top picks!

The weather is getting hotter and that means... ice cream!

So where do you go for your ice cream fix? Here's a list to start things off..

1. Earnest Ice Cream's "London Fog" flavour

2. Cold Stone Creamery's "Coffee Lovers Only"

3. Zakkushi Charcoal Grill's "Black Sesame" Ice Cream with raspberry

1- Froshberg Gelato - dark chocolate - when I feel like splurging.

2- Marble Slab Creamery - coffee flavour - Ice cream cakes

3- Hagen Daz at the local supermarket - chocolate chunk/strawberry

Avalon organic ice cream

Nearly all Black sesame ice cream available commercially is by Hime. In terms of the base material I won't rank anywhere close to Avalon / Earnest.

In the summer for the last few years, I've been taking the kids to the Ice Cream stand at Rocky Point in Port Moody.

White Chocolate Rasberry

Banana Fudge

Both are great

If you're in the States, be sure to check out Talenti. It's better than Earnest Ice Cream.

It's available at Walmart, Winco, etc.

I use to be all over Earnest until I went to Rain or Shine on West 4th. I think their ice cream edges out Earnest by a little bit.

Coffee Toffee was fucking dreamy ...

we make our own ice-cream now...it tastes soooo much better and fresher.
and we can adjust the recipe to our liking (e.g. we like lighter and not too sweet ice-cream, so we use less cream and less sugar)

They are also incredibly simple and easy to make...(basically milk + sugar + heavy cream, literally takes 3 mins to prepare, and 20 min in the ice-cream maker)

We usually dont' make custard(egg) base because it is much easier w/o it....just add toppings like toffee bits, toasted pecans/nuts, oreo, etc if you want more than a simple cream/vanilla/chocolate ice cream.

Went to Rain or Shine during Vancouver Craft Beer week and they had a special porter ice cream that tasted exactly like beer. It was so good!
