Looking For Free Parking Close to Granville and Davie

Hello I just moved down to the lower mainland and was wondering where I can park close to Granville and Davie area for free? I don't mind a 10-15 minute walk. Thanks in advance.

There is some free parking on the streets south of Pacific Blvd. around George Wainborn park. Now use the "thank" button because it's damn near impossible to find free parking DT.

There's also the church alleyway near burrard (near Scotia bank theatre/a block in front of the hospital). Good luck finding a spot though because people go there at like 6 AM and unless you're camping there at like 4:30 PM, GOOD LUCK!

2 hr limit during regular hours

OP just needs to realize that one needs to pay their way in life. why should he not pay and everyone else have to pay?

If you can't afford to pay for parking in downtown then you should either 1) not live there (assuming you do) or not drive. Simple.. Finding free parking there is not reliable enough to do it on a daily basis

Lives downtown, owns car, too cheap to pay for parking

Let me guess, your condo and car are paid for by someone other than yourself?

Parking free after 10pm, if I recall. Unless times have changed.

Parking should still be free after 10pm. Used to be 8pm!!!

Hard to find free parking. Also, what are the bylaws about parking in an alley. I always see people do it, but i'm too scared to park my car there. Not because I don't think it's safe, I just don't want to get a ticket.

alleys in downtown are commercial vehicle only I believe -- I leave my car for a few minutes and run back, but usually I just use the pay by phone app, cheaper + easier than using coins

I have to be downtown evenings for a couple hours. Wasn't expecting free parking downtown but I thought there might have even a place to walk from

Free parking is few and far between.

Yaletown ironically has the most free parking, so if you really can't pay. Park somewhere down by the water.

Could give this link a try Parking in Vancouver - Parking Meter, Permit Parking, Cheap Parking, Free Parking, Downtown Parking, Motorcycle Parking, Disability Parking, Parking Finder, Parking Locator, Parking Map, it shows except with permit parking restrictions, so perhaps the parts of the block that aren't marked as except with permit may be 2hr free or no restrictions

I've literally had my registered commercial vehicle ticketed and towed from an alley while I worked at a site.

Some assholes like to call in and get you towed. For example, there's always a CTV truck parked in the alleyway between Alberni and Robson. If you park behind him and you're not loading, fucker calls the city up and gets you towed.

Quote:
Commercial vehicle privileges
Licensed commercial vehicles can:
Stop in commercial loading zones and commercial lanes for up to 30 minutes to load or unload materials
Stop in passenger zones for up to 30 minutes (until 12noon only) to load or unload materials
Use a metered space for free on any day up to 10:30am, excluding 7:00am to 9:30am rush hour zones
