I had one but realized it made no sense so I traded it in for a S2000. It had worse mileage than my mom's first generation Honda Fit in the city and I drive like a grandma.

If Honda threw a k20 in it i'm sure I'd probably pick one up again.

the CRZ is a missed opportunity for honda IMO. just another example of a growing list of fails for them (eg. crosstour, insight, ridgeline)

even these ones?

i've read somewhere they actually have great handling, decent low-end torque due to elec motor, and the only hybrid to offer 6spd...most just dismiss them immediately after seeing the medicore power to weight ratio on paper. Personally I think they look great, if they can get a bit more weight reduced and slap in a higher output engine then it'll sell like hot cakes...or is the platform too fail and honda would rather put their efforts on the new civic type-r?

they look great up there on the shelf, but otherwise...

i guess it's because i am old enough to remember driving CR-X's when they were new, and i had so many high expectations that this was going to be the modern reincarnation but i was wrong

a lot of people say RSX should've been K20 powered DC2.

CRZ was yet another fail buy Honda in MY opinion. Should of offered a base engine out of the fit, the hybrid option, and a CRZ Si with a K20Z3.

Looks beautiful...zero power. It's so unsatisfying to drive. It's the tofu of cars.

I've love to see more manufacturers start making performance cars like the P1 and 918. Not to that insane degree but I mean cars with regular gas engines with an electric engine. Right now hybrids don't work in that way...gas engines charge batteries and the electric motor drives the wheels but very few cars use them in tandem to make an even faster car.

I'd love to see something with 160hp turbocharged 4-cylinder and a 90hp electric engine that's the size of a Civic and allows you to actively select between engine modes. Use the electric engine around town...90hp is more than enough to do stop-and-go traffic in Vancouver and a 160hp engine that can recharge the motors in hybrid mode. Then...use both of 'em for 250hp fun where the electric motor fills in the black hole of torque at low revs.

I can't wait to buy that car.

would be nice if the CR-Z is powered by a K20A or A2 + electric motor and a close ratio 6 spd with LSD...

I don't think you need electric motor.
If you install K20, it'll be lighter, since you're taking out batteries, electric motor, etc.

Also the gas mileage won't change compare to hybrid because of weight reduction.

But having an electric motor that has a...say...50km range would be amazing for every day use and you're not taking into account the fact that electric motors make all their torque from the second you put your foot down so it would aid a regular gas motor in acceleration.

Its economy is not impressive against hybrids.
It's not fast.
It's not all that practical.
What are you left with?

Style.

I'm not sure how old you are but this was supposed to target the EF/CRX generation crowd. It really does remind me of a contemporary CRX but it's just missing that same excitement or thrill of the original.

Forgive my ignorance, but how many other standard transmission hybrids are out there? Serious question.

How does a hybrid manual transmission even work? First gear electric mode or something? Wouldnt that be weird as fk with a clutch?

only CRZ.

but think about it, the only reason you would talk about hybrid is because of gas mileage.
What do you mean by "hybrid with standard transmission"?

You mean standard transmission with good gas mileage? If so, there are some sportscars that gets better gas mileage than Honda CRZ.
