My DK2 finally shipped to me today, took a while to get it up and working! Apparently my logitech software have conflict with DK2, had to uninstall my logitech stuff and manually start up the DK2 runtime to get it working.
Only tried a few demos and the first impression is OMG! It has to be the most immersive gaming experience ever! You literally feels like you are in the game world. Really can't wait to get Skyrim and Half Life 2 working with it, since those are the current titles with rift beta support at the moment.
The first one was some amusement park thrill ride. The amount of depth just astonishing! Especially when you are way up in the air and ejecting yourself from the ride, definitely got the feeling that I was gonna die LOL
Titans of Space is by far the best demo so far. Feels like a ride you'd find in a space museum. Head tracking was done extremely well in this demo.
4th Floor Studio had very immersive graphics, the lighting was top notch, even had dust particles reflecting the sun light. It would be a demo of whats to come when implemented into real world gaming. I'd expect the level of detail in GT6 with rift mode to be as detail as the 4thflr studio demo had. VR is gonna be great with non-gaming environments in the future as well. Especially real estate or interior design firms. Imagine previewing your new home with VR and all could be done in your own comfort.
Its in a very early stage. Even with the DK2 update, all the previous demos/game support need to be redone for the DK2. I think it will be at least until end of 2015 before it becomes mainstream.
Finally got to check out Hyde's DK2 and while impressive, it's definitely in alpha stage still. Not worth buying unless you're planning on developing for it IMO
But still, I feel like I peered into the future. I felt the same way when I started using "smartphones" which now everyone has.
Used the oculus at the PNE GoT exhibition. Loved the way it worked and how fluid it was but the feed that you got through the headset reminded me of mid 90's gaming. The quality and textures of the ride up the wall left somthing to be desired.

dont mean to be fear mongering but are there any studies out there showing this is technology and other VRs since the nintendo days are safe for your eyes? I dont wanna mess up my vision more than I already have haha
I went up to a cute chick and asked her if she'd let me take a photo of her for $30 she slapped me, she said to me that "I AIN'T A WHORE!"
But other than that I have seen every car on display in DTP just by cruising about in Richmond, thank you very much for collecting them together and get someone to sing a cover for "fuck you".
OH FUCK YOU OH OH OOOOH~
