Infiniti g37s pros/cons

I am looking at some used vehicles and currently like the g37s coupe, anyone here driven it or own one that could give me the pros and cons? 6MT or Auto, whats the maintenance like? ride comfort, at about what mileage do the problems start to show, what are the major/minor changes for between 2009-2013 models etc...

Also, any recommendations at another vehicle that can be compared to this car I could look at?

Thanks!

I have not owned one but did do a test drive on a G37X. Even with the AWD, it felt pretty boat-like. Interior felt a little cramped and driving position wasn't perfect (although you could get used to it pretty quickly).

2010 was the facelift year with a revised front fascia, new optional navigation, and some other "minor" changes (off the top of my head would be the instrument cluster gauge/needles differ in color.

I believe the other very commonly compared vehicle is the BMW 335i.

G37 are good reliable cars. I own one currently and have not looked back since.

6mt or Auto really depends on the person, some people like manual because its "funner" and some people like Auto because its more convenient like me. Broke my arm recently and was glad I did not drive manual or else I would not be getting anywhere else. So to each their own.

Maintenance wise honestly, you don't have to do much to them because G's in general hold up well. And I mean well. With my car all I had to do was just Oil changes and thats pretty much it.

Ride comfort I say is good in my opinion, Pretty good seats kind of tucks you in well.

the 09-13 models what Gazorcoop said.

Over all its a good well rounded 1st car or just a car that you can depend on as a daily. Hope this gives you some light on the G's.

Fuel mileage is not known to be good. Exhaust note is nice.

what is the gas mileage like for you? how often do you fill up and how far are your trips? I am currently getting 10L/100km for my accord v6 which should be normal for some others, but seems like shit to me probably because it is draining more than taht and my car is old now. I fill 40 bucks for half a tank every 3 days.

It's going to be worse than that.

I had a g37x sedan for a week (same drivetrain as an automatic coupe), and I averaged 13l/100km. And that was driving REALLY lightly. With a bit of spirited driving, you will see even worse mileage than that.

These things are absolute PIGS on gas, you can get decent mileage on the highway because of the 7 speed, but in the city your gonna be hurting pretty bad...

If you are asking about gas consumption I will tell you right now, STAY AWAY. In most infiniti models you really gotta pay to play, they are notoriously terrible for gas.

I was under the impression they were a lot worse than that. That really isn't that bad. Its not great for a new(ish) car, but by no means terrible for a decently high output V6

Anything with the 3.5 is a lot worse.

Also OP should keep in mind, his Honda is okay with regular, the G requires Premium.

If gas mileage is even in your top ten considerations, stay away from anything that has a VQ.

We are talking about $90-100 every tank, which lasts maybe 350km if you are lucky.

Pro: They sound nice, comfortable with a nice interior.
Con: You might be accused of being a douchebag

I love the cars, but my god there are too many of them riced out.

Fuel mileage is shit, my infiniti got a 75L tank and I get average 400-500km off tank with premium, if you don't shit kick your car, you can get up to 600km off a tank. My average L/100km for my car is usually 12L/100km, but can get shittier to 15.8L/100km. On the other hand, engine sounds nice ride is comfortable, but if you straight pipe your car, it sounds heavenly

Sigh.

I've owned 3 VQ's (350z, G35, FX35) and I miss them all so much. One of my close friends has a G37s as well.

Pros: They're pretty comfortable for what they are, the engines are basically bulletproof, and you get a good amount of power.

Cons: Like others said, gas mileage is absolutely terrible. Like, the worst.
Another thing to look out for is the electronics. Throughout owning those 3 cars, I had problems with window motors, door lock actuators, dome lights, head lights, cd player..

But I still miss my G

Keep in mind I have an FX, so i'm on the thirsty side of the spectrum, since my car is like a g35 towing a boat.

If I drive VERY considerately (basically if I hyper-mile the thing), I can get my city/highway blend down to about 14, this is after all my mods, and my tune.

Prior to the tune and the mods I was at about 15 while hypermiling.

Now if you drive it like a normal person, (aka if you get on it a little from stops, and occasional mash the gas through tunnels and stuff, or maybe you just live in a hilly area). Yeah you will see 18-20l/100km <I'm not kidding.

Seriously my work truck is a 6.0L v8 GMC sierra, and the thing is pretty much on par with my FX in terms of gas mileage.

I have been looking at g37s and between a brand new 2014 accord v6 6 speed hfp. I guess I will have to reconsider getting g37s. Always did want a rear wheel drive 6MT vehicle though. I mean, can't be much worse than my shit accord right now. If I put 20 regular in my car from white rock and drive to van, I'd have to put some gas in again once I am back in white rock.

I would probably get the accord. Especially if its a HFP coupe. My buddy has a '14 v6 coupe (non-hfp mind you), but with every other option, and fuck is it ever nice.

And the thing HAULS ass when you get on it.

How is the mileage on that thing? Do the newer accords only take premium now? if its regular, I am set. I just want fun everyday car to drive. I made a mistake not getting stick in the past.

I know that feel.

When I had my FX, my friend's V8 Tundra was getting about the same or sometimes even better mileage than me. Not to mention the FX needed premium too.
