I don't know what games the first chick has been playing, but uh, I've never experienced any misogyny (until I got to know the guys lol) as a female gamer. But like everyone else has said, if it bothers you, log off.

so wait what video game were ppl playing before video games were invented, cuz im sure violence was always here before video games & tv/movies were invented
Cops/Robbers, Cowboyws/Indians, Red Rover (that shit can get violent fast!), Chicken, etc., etc.
I went up to a cute chick and asked her if she'd let me take a photo of her for $30 she slapped me, she said to me that "I AIN'T A WHORE!"
But other than that I have seen every car on display in DTP just by cruising about in Richmond, thank you very much for collecting them together and get someone to sing a cover for "fuck you".
OH FUCK YOU OH OH OOOOH~

Well, if video games weren't invented yet, then none, I guess.............
To answer your question, violence did exist before video games and the Internet, but most of it was kept away from the general public. I firmly believe it wasn't as huge a problem as it is now. Yes, the Internet and social media has opened things up and news is much more timely and easy to access. In fact, I believe social media and media in general is the cause of a lot of the violence we see today. I find myself becoming more and more agressive. I find myself losing patience more often. I am only human. Technology has affected us more than we know or are willing to admit. I grew up being taught the golden rule and have a good sense of what's right and wrong, but sheeat, it's so easy to forget all that these days. So easy to go to the dark side.
I'm not here to argue........just shit I've observed over the years. Ethical and responsible use of technology. Something we need to address.
the reason why hurt feelings are becoming more important than the actual abuse is because people eat this shit up.
They react to it. If we just said, fuck it who cares and don't bother to comment or even provide feedback to dumb shit like this it would slowly disappear.
Alas, in this day and age, so many people love to feed the troll and feed useless stories like this by giving them all sorts of reaction.
I've realized long ago that you can't fight stupid. You can ignore it. Which is pretty much the best course of action.
Mr. Ford doesn’t need to fudge the numbers to claim success as a fiscal manager. The labour deal was a substantial achievement. So was contracting our garbage. Most impressive was the decision to stop using leftover money from one year’s budget to plug holes in the next.
article in the toronto sun saying he didn't save a billion (apparently it started out him saying he did) and they estimated he saved like 365 mill or something like that in budget cuts, but indicated that taxes didn't go down, i think it went up. you can read up and try to figure out how the math went.
Actually, the person making the video is mistaken. She's not saying that the act of stopping a sex slave ring is sexist...it's that there's a sex slave ring in the game in the first place. I get what that lady is saying even if I think it's a bit blown out of proportion. It's that women are used as background. They're never the heroes and when they are, they're like the Black Widow in Avengers. Eye candy. They're usually damsels in distress or in this case, sex workers being sold.
Well, the counter argument is...that's the way the real world is. Is it right? No, of course not, but the game is going for realism...not promoting the abuse of women. It's pretty clear that the guys running that sex ring in Watch Dogs are scum bags and need to get murdered.
And why are all the heroes male and the women need saving and big bras? Because the primary audience for video games is men. Yes, there are female gamers but male heroes and boobs sell. The market determines what games get made. Maybe if more women played video games, it would be different.
Take the emotion out of a situation like this and it's all rather black and white.
I hate when idiots blame video games for social problems. These games are created, and rated as such; to be outlets so you could get your frustrations out, go on an adventure, get lost in space, become an assassin, skate like a champ, kill and squash zombie heads, sniper from miles away plus everything that happens in the GTA series because it is NOT REAL LIFE and it's a great escape for responsible people.
If people, kids, whoever, go bananas on a killing spree it ain't the video games y0! Take that shit away from your kid because he/she ain't 18 or whatever the age requirements. Spend more quality time. Be involved. Enforce the rules that are clearly printed on the label. Quit scapegoating video games because a few unstable people can't handle themselves.
"KEEPING SAFE FROM VIRTUAL RAPE", I'm almost died laughing.
I don't get why people don't understand how life is so much better when nothing offends you compared to...oh, everything offending you. Why care about issues like this?
It's like swearing. I can't for the life of me imagine a single reason to be offended by words.
