2015 Yamaha R1 http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/attac...1&d=1413471964 We R1 - 3 Nov 2014 21:00 CET - Live Global R1 press première Anyone else loosing there mind to find out about this? Looking to replace the 05 R1 and this may just have to do! |
Everything that I have read has suggested that this bike will be a REAL competitor to BMW's (lonely) S1000RR... it looks great and it's a bike that certainly needs to be re-engergized... not that the existing bike isn't terrific, but the CBR1000RR, S1000RR, 1199, etc., have all received so much press over the past few years ... it's good for Yamaha to grab some headlines. |
NOVEMBER 3RD - that's when it will be unveiled!!! I hope it makes an appearance at the bike show in Jan/Feb Yamaha confirms 2015 R1 - Motorcycle news: New bikes - Visordown |
I don't think it will be at any local shows here until later into 2015. We are always slower to get them here. |
Damn! |
Here's the New 2015 R1!! What do you guys think? Video: 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 First Look | Sport Rider 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 Superbike First Look Motorcycle Review- EICMA 2014 |
Well, I LOVE IT.... I have never been a huge fan of Yamaha product but this bike catapults them generations ahead of where they were previously. I can't wait to see this technology and design language filter down into the R6. My fav. angle of this bike is actually from the rear!!! |
It will Definitely take some getting used to... I do love that LED slits but i cant get used to the LED headlights, they just look out of place... Overall a very sexy machine indeed!! Can't wait to read more reviews and see road/track tests of the bike!! |
Msrp $23k..... |
Yamaha just priced themselves out of loads of sales with a price tag matching that of the Itilian bikes. I was very seriously contemplating getting this to replace my 05 R1 and get back into the riding scene more but I can not get over its ugly looks and 23k to boot is just nuts for a Yam! If I wanted to spend that kind of money I would be looking at the new 1299 Pani but instead I will be looking at the naked market to replace the R1. |

I know not a single person who WANTS the base model of anything especially a bike. Its fairly clear that this bike will not sell well based upon looks and will rely on its performance to sell, do if they tune it down for the base model......FAIL. DAM IT YAMAHA! It's evident that in 2007 you got rid of a designer with good taste and replace him with a blind man. |
I just hope they do not destroy the R6 like they did the R1 |

And the M model has different fairings (cf used extensively), different calipers, electronic controlled suspension, different exhaust, different ecu.... Take a R1M remove the extras to "tune down" the bike and you have a base R1 which equals overpriced compared to its competitors as of right now. 2015 S1000RR has all the extras as the bas model pricing....fail on Yamaha for that. Im sure the price will come down after the initial deliveries are done tho....even so, the bike is hideous in street trim. |

I would not call this "tuning" when it completely changes the characteristics of the bike and the purpose that its suited for. One is made to get you around the track as fast as possible and the other is for getting you to Starbucks faster than your friends. Its targeted towards a different section of the market. Similar in concept for people who might buy an STi as opposed to a WRX or Impreza. Or people who might buy a Civic SI than an EX. Right now, you can't compare it to the 2015 S1000RR because the pricing for that has not been announced yet. What you can compare it to is the pre 2015 model or CBR 1000RR SP. But I would not expect the 2015 model to be priced the same as the 2014. |
in other news, honda finally unveiled what is the beastiest production road bike ever made. its basically a road going version of the rcv1000r production racer that's currently being ridden by Scott Redding and Nicky Hayden. price unsure but rumored to be around $100k. brb remortgaging the house. One final detail? "If you put Marquez on it, he'll be able to lap close to the open bikes," our source tells us. http://lanesplitter.jalopnik.com/201...h-a-1654503037 http://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/...ebow3h3evp.jpg |
