I will write about the ISIS attack in Canada soon.

The Internet has so much potential to unite and connect humanity but instead it is being used to culturally enslave people's minds. Worship these people, believe in this, and in our hyper-politically correct world being "progressive" is the ONLY choice. Inside the conservative muslim mind I imagine they must think we're fucking evil for promoting alternative lifestyles as much as we do. Genderless bathrooms for LGBTZQYXVWPLO seem pretty wonky to me, what does an orthodox religious person think? They're not allowed to even say anything because in our society if you say something unpopular on social media people will try and get you fired from your job. I couldn't talk 10% of the shit I do without being fired if I didn't sell porn on the internet, which makes me pretty much impossible to kill by attacking me financially. Stuff like this is a big part of why ISIS formed on social media and is now fighting back against western hegemony. Those without a voice let their guns do the talking now.

Sucks.

Is it really a terrorist attack though, when we've been at war for 13 years and no civilians are targeted?

I think this huge outpour is crazy media propaganda and great marketing by the military in North America, which relies on taxes and voluntary service. "Support the troops!"

Not liking the direction of this.

-video feed of RCMP news conference on status of the shooting investigation:

RCMP news conference on the Ottawa shootings | News1130

paraphrasing some of the RCMP commissioner's answers to media questions:

"cannot disclose the contents of the shooter's duffle bag found in Ottawa shelter because this is part of an ongoing investigation".

"The American media gave misinformation about the background of the shooter. We are still trying to determine how the shooter got hold of a Winchester rifle. The shooter was prohibited from carrying this firearm"

"A list of people of interest fluctuates every day. Currently, there are 93 individuals on this list".

"We have not made any arrests today. -no imminent arrests until we go over all evidence".

"Even if we had surveillance cameras in Quebec, we would not have been able to stop the killing. That's the kind of individuals that we are dealing with."

If anybody on RS is fluent in French, can you let us know what questions the Quebec reporters are asking the commish? My French language skills suck.

Have the RCMP yet confirmed that ISIL is connected to this, or are they just claiming credit for it?

Sorry, but you can never make any place absolutely safe and secure. I feel for the two men who were killed recently, Cpl Nathan Cirillo and Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent, and their families and friends, but I don't feel we need to be making changes to the way our country operates due to the actions of two people who became extremists and attacked our soldiers within our borders. To do so gives these extremists exactly what they want, and if they see that they can hurt our country this way then they will continue to use attacks like these to hurt us.

Rest in peace gentlemen.

A man on the bottom of western society could easily be convinced to take up arms against it

I totally understand

A man on the bottom of eastern society probably still have some sort of happiness because they have different values. Money and status aren't nearly as important to islamists, I assume.

Here as a male, without money or status, you are literally worth less than dirt.

A person with nothing to lose is a scary thing. Add a possible drug problem or past drug problems then you have a recipe for disaster. Extremist groups pray on people like this and they are perfect for their plan of destruction. Whether or not the shooter is tied to ISIS/ISIL/whateverthefuck almost doesn't matter at this point. The damage is done. And realistically, what can/should Canada do to increase security? Pretty hard to be proactive against radicals that act in such an unpredictable manner.

IMO, while hardline measures are effective in a lot of different capacities, they need to be complemented by a host of soft (ie. humanitarian) measures as well in order to be effective. Some people think funding to social programs, mental care programs, drug abuse programs, employment assistance programs are useless and money wasted, but these are precisely the soft measures a society needs to support people who are most at risk. When these programs are working, people don't notice their effectiveness. But with both the federal and provincial budgets getting slashed big time (all in the name of fiscal responsibility and balanced budgets), people in need fall through the cracks. And then who knows? Maybe we get someone like Michael Zehaf-Bibeau person that just snapped the wrong way...

FUCK ME! The more I read about this fucking bullshit, the more it makes me mad. Seriously! FUCK EXTREMIST'S!!! Exterminate these fuckers.

Cpl Nathan Cirillo and Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent were two beautiful people as well their families, and should never have to have their lives taken like this. Such bullshit! Seeing those pictures of Cpl Cirillo's dogs maybe put me over the edge. So sad..

Ironic yes. Sorry it all just makes me mad.

My meaning around that is, I really don't appreciate it when another human born in my country goes out there and kills another citizen in cold blood that doesn't have anything to do with him. This person obviously got brain-washed, drug problems, alcoholic, and most likely more. Most likely wasn't thinking properly when I posted my previous post, but its over and done with.

This whole situation upsets me, sorry. Why can't we all just get along, I don't care about skin color, background, whatever. Humans are humans. What a wonderful fucking world.

I can see Don Cherry now saying, look at these beauties (talking about the soldiers). He must be so pissed off.

Sorry, but that's bullshit.

An occupation does not define a man or woman, nor does it make him or her worth more than anyone else. By the looks of it, every day should be a tragedy in North America, because we seem to give so much of a shit about everyone, right?

Wrong, the majority of people simply do not care unless it is convenient to mourn. When one man decides to shoot up Parliment Hill, we all collectively lose our shit, but why? Does this really matter in the grand scheme of things? Will this change the way you wake up in the morning?

It's shitty, but shitty things happen to decent people every day in other parts of the world, and less than a single thought is given towards those unsung victims in your own group of friends until it's paraded by a major media outlet (or two). Children die in piss poor regions of Africa to gun violence every day, what makes them so much less worthy of our rage?

Does it suck that that man died? Yes.

Does it matter in my life? No.

Am I scared because of this? No.

Should Canada change because of this? No.

You will live to work another day, save your objections, wake up and understand the world you live in, you're being too sensitive.

It's about what a soldier and what the Canadian Forces represent.

They're the front line of protection for OUR country and OUR freedom to do whatever the fuck we feel like doing (without violating laws), whenever we feel like doing them. The freedom to practise whatever religion we want, the freedom to speak what's on our minds, even about our politicians.

I feel that you're ungrateful for what our Armed Forces do and have done for our country, so that we're better than most countries out there. Many have sacrificed their lives so you and I can live the way that we do. The Canadian way of life.

Shooting a serviceman on Canadian soil is like taking a chisel to chip away at our freedom. We as a Country cannot and should not stand for something like this.

"Give an inch, take a mile"

We can't give them the inch.

We went from warring tribes and clans, to the relative non-wartime safety from terrorism of the nation-state.

Thanks to the Internet, we are returning to warring tribes

it is a sad week for the nation, however, the thing that makes me proud to be Canadian is that our media glorified the heroes involved

And my facebook is full of people saying "THIS IS WHY WE NEED STRICTER GUN LAWS IN CANADA!"

because taking firearms away from law abiding citizens is going to keep illegally acquired guns out of the hands of criminals.
