Knowing how popular this bike is amongst the folks on this site I figured you might enjoy reading the review.

Oh, S1k double-R, how I love you, let me count the ways: Gear Shift Assist Pro, Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Dynamic Damping Control (DDC), Cruise Control …

It isn't an easily afford bike, but relative to the 1199, is there a better value in the sportbike world than the S1000RR (in any guise)?

I would personally never buy one, despite my utter appreciate for its capacity to rock my world... my dream would be the S1000R... :) it provides enough of the S1000RR's "fun" while being a little more gentle on my old person body. :)

R1 MSRP: $14,999
S1000RR MSRP: $17,650.00

What are you smoking lol

Pricing for both not officialy released but from Yamaha they are saying it will be at or lower than current MSRP and from BMW they are saying the new RR will be at the same price point the HP4 is.

22k from VanDuc for a 14 HP4
15k for R1

Perhaps not half the price, but ill take that extra 7k ;)

However, actual purchase price will fluctuate depending on where you bought it and when.

i unno man... the reason the s1k is so sought after is because it's relatively cheap for what you get compared to its competition. if its gonna be pushing hp4 pricing then i'd take the r1 in a heart beat lol

Yup, Yamaha just shot themselves in the foot with this. S1RR is a better option IMO now. After all said and done the 15 R1 will be 23k......what a joke.

I posted this in another thread but it's probably a good place to put it here too : BMW is reportedly to discontinue the HP4 in North America. Motorcycle.com suspects it's due to overlap with the heavily-revised 2015 S1000RR...
