Amazon is selling a Jarvis unit called Echo

Not exactly Jarvis ;) it just reminds me of Jarvis from the Iron Man films
edit: its actually called Echo but the Amazon commercials family named theirs Alexa

It's a cylinder that's connected to the internet and you can talk to it

for $199, and $99 to invited Prime members

Amazon just surprised everyone with a crazy speaker that talks to you | The Verge

meh, bose soundlink + iphone ask Siri can do all that, plus write texts and make calls for me

$99 though is probably a great pricepoint for the holidays

StylinRed 11-06-2014 08:11 PM

correction $99 is for prime members who get an invite

it's 199 regular priced

In our lifetime the rich will absolutely have robot servants

"Alexa, give me a blowjob, clean the kitchen, make me a steak and then wash my car"

Better than a girlfriend

Stihl and Echo used to make a good model line. I beg, please don't go to hell :(

I think it's gonna flop like their fire phone.

I loled at a theory I read that the echo is just recycled fire phone parts to dwindle their huge inventory of unsold units.

Vale46Rossi 11-07-2014 12:46 AM

Eh, I dont think it will flop compared, great pricepoint for even just a speaker alone!

$200 is too high of a price point plus you need multiple units in a house. It would would be awesome if you could link them together, so if you play a song on one it would play the song on all of them. Also if you could sent voice messages each individual unit. You could sent a message to a unit in one of your kids rooms or a message to all the units. Even better if you could chat with other people using the unit.

if you have to ask, something's wrong :troll:

It's quite a bit more, and it's not really the quasi automation like this, but I'm quite impressed with the "Sonos" system

We use them in some of our sales centers/show homes and between 4 different units, 3 different floors and 6 speakers it's seemlessly synced to one iPod in the office

twitchyzero 11-07-2014 08:48 AM

will it have scarlett johansson's voice? :alone:

murd0c 11-07-2014 09:23 AM

I really hope I get selected because for the $99 price tag it's so worth it just to mess around with it for a bit. I would so call it Jarvis as well lol

The beta version did not work so well:
