Question about locked phones

I'm going on a vacation in Asia soon I was wondering if my phone that is currently locked to Fido will work with the wireless carrier in Asia?

Or do I have to unlock it first?

It depends on how they locked it, make sure the phone has the frequencies you need to use while abroad firs though.

You might want to mention what phone you have so we can determine if the hardware has support for any of the Asian carriers.

You will have to get it unlocked first. I would call fido if you are the original contract owner they will be able to do it sometimes for free. If it is an iPhone it can be expensive to unlock. We charge typically $70 to unlock an iPhone from fido.
