Overview:
Up for sale is my 1989 euro-spec 944 Turbo – one of the rare ‘88+ “Turbo S” cars. Originally sold in Japan, the car benefits from lack of sunroof, euro-bumpers/signals, and a stripped-down options list.
I hope the pictures can do it justice, but overall the car is in fantastic mechanical and cosmetic shape.
I have all kept maintenance records since my ownership, with many of the big/scary jobs being completed on this car in that time.
This is a turn-key, start-every-time, up to date 951. It has been dead reliable, solid, and a pleasure to drive.
I’ve owned the car since Oct 2010, at 101,000km. The car has primarily been street driven (sparingly, as I don’t have to commute), has been regularly auto-crossed, and has seen around 3-5 HPDE/track days a year.
I’ve built it to further accentuate its performance potential, but the car has never been competitively raced or abused.
As it sits, it would make a great recreational driver (as it has been), or could easily be taken further to a club-racing spec.
It’s ready to go to a new and appreciative owner!
Exterior:
Car has been garage-kept its whole life.
Aftermarket side-skirts (I believe these are Strosek)
Body is 100% free of dents and rust.
Paint is in excellent shape, but could probably use a claybar/detail at some point
if wanted!
Bad:
Some minor rock-chips on the front of car from highway driving, as well as some minor scuffing around front wheel wells and side skirts – normal light wear+tear.
Interior:
Overall in excellent shape – no large dash cracks, tears or marks to speak of.
Perforated black leather headliner is super cool!
There is an Alpine cd/radio head and aftermarket speakers – they’re pretty loud and clear. To be honest, the car sounds so good I’ve used it maybe 10 times!
All power functions work – including mirrors, windows, hatch, HVAC. AC works, but has a bit of trouble on some of the warmest days.
Car comes with original spare tire, jack, and papers.
Modifications:
Fall 2010
Momo Mod 07 steering wheel+ hub (original is available)
Momo Anatomico (short) shift knob
Schnell Short-Shift Kit
Jan 2012
Recaro Pole Position seats (black cloth)
Recaro Steel Side-Mounts+ sliders (driver+passenger)
Planted mounting brackets
Feb 2014
Hanksville Hotrods Rollcage (installed by 900 Werks Porsche Specialties)
Rich 5-point racing harness, sub-belt professionally installed
(original belt to be included)
bad:
Dash gauges from previous owner – kind of a funny homage to the car’s past.
Original securiflex windshield has a shallow crack above driver’s head (can provide pics)
Original speedo malfunctioned, was replaced 2.2011 with a new gauge cluster.
I also have the original (mint) interior – front and rear seats.
They’re marine blue with grey cloth plaid inserts (‘anniversary’ edition print) – they are rare ROW patterns, and I am willing to negotiate these into the deal if desired. Front seats are non-sport seats.
Pics upon request.
Engine+ etc:
Stock engine/turbo, with ECU tune (bought the car tuned) – estimated around 15PSI, high 200’s HP. Pulls hard.
Engine is sealed tightly – recent compression test (dec 2014) shows even 120-125 PSI across all cylinders.
No play in motor mounts.
Frequent oil changes, an extensive tune-up in mid 2013 (including all belts, power steering pump, filters etc), water pump and fuel-system overhaul in mid 2012 (at 113,000km).
New oem power steering rack (10.2013)
The car, even when pushed hard, has never overheated or had any trouble running.
Clutch is strong – engages fully and doesn’t slip.
Apart from that, the car has seen regular maintenance for smaller things, such as alternator belt, new battery, random fuses or kinks – I’m trying to keep this as concise as possible, but please ask if you want to see them via email.
3” exhaust + test pipe – came with the car, JDM built. Sounds meaty!
You’ll never listen to the radio again.
I can provide some exhaust clips if wanted.
Wheels:
CCW Classics – genuine 3-piece rims, race hardware+ open lug bolts. 08.2013
F: 8.5x18, et+50 R:10x18, et+52 (rear 7.5mm H&R hubcentric spacers)

F: 245/40/R18 R:285/35/R18 – heat cycled before installed, lots of life left!
Fitment is bang-on!

Current alignment specs-

Car is set up for mild oversteer, yet is predictable and safe.

This is not an extensive list, but for the sake of trying to keep this at short-story level, I’ll end it here.
Please feel free to call or email me for more questions/inquiries. I have many more photos, some video, and will try to be as transparent and accountable as I can be.
I welcome PPI’s, can meet locally, and am willing to do whatever I can do to assist in shipping, if needed.
I can also put you in touch with a shop/mechanic that has known the car since I’ve owned it and has performed much of the work.
Thanks for looking.
