If you could have ANY bike ...

Money aside - if you could have any production bike, which would you own?

To make it a little more specific, there are some restrictions :

-the bike would be provided for free but could be your only bike
-you would be responsible for insurance and fuel
-you would be responsible for maintenance and storage
-you would have to keep the bike for at least five years
-you could have any bike - it doesn't have to be a brand new model

Adding restrictions makes an HP4 or a 1299 a little less compelling as an obvious first choice.

For me I would go BMW S 1000 R in red. The bike provides all of the power I could ever need, it's comfortable enough for long-distancing riding or commuting and it's perfectly adequate for the occasional trackday. For me, this is the perfect dream bike. In contrast the Triumph Speed Triple is archaic without any of the sophisticated rider-aids that are quickly becoming the norm in the motorbike industry. I see the Triumph Speed Triple as a "muscle car..." - brute force but without sophistication and I believe the S 1000 R would be a great long-term ride.

RC45. why, because it's even more rare than an RC30. I'm a sucker for a V4 and gear driven cams.

VFR750 RC30.... I can't get over the classic styling cues, and the single swing-arm...

^One of my neighbours in Brooklyn has one. One of the coolest bikes ever made. I don't get why Honda doesn't make a mass production SSSA + V4 superbike. There's a guy on the Ducati forums that sold his to buy a SportClassic... I believe he got $45K for it!

Oops forgot to answer the question.

To be honest, it's exactly what I have right now.

Ducati Diavel.

Comfortable, not-common, fast enough, maintenance was never an issue, and now it's been with me already 3 years :D

In the last two years I had been juggling around purchasing a new or another bike..... thought about the panigale many times but never brought myself to because simply its not a comfortable bike to ride, it's too much of a track oriented bike and for track I have my Ninja so I am good with that for now :D

Perhaps in the future I would add a track bike, but for now there is nothing I would trade for my Diavel.... at least not that I know of yet....

Went to look at new dualsport bikes and was disgusted so I bought this 1985 Xl350 for less than the tax on a new one.

Why???
This thing has provided 29 years of memories for someone
Eligible for collectors plates when I restore it
Service intervals on some new bikes are 15 hours.
This xl could be serviced every 15 months.
$50 set of wheels to change to motard setup
I have ridden 4 stroke Hondas for 23 years so there is a nostalgia thing for me
