Were down to .90 here in Smithers... Pretty awesome seeing the liters go up faster than the dollars.
Berz out.

1.37 today.
Kind of regret not exchanging earlier . When is usually the best time to exchange? As soon as it goes downwards or do you wait until it goes back up?

if you think its cheap, then buy now and sell later when its not.
trying to time the swings is pretty hard to do and you may as well be at the casino if you're relying on that sort of luck.

Yea I get that it's pretty hard to predict, but was wondering if there's anything I could take a look at to see if it's generally a good time to exchange. ie: as soon as it starts swinging the other way

I got bored at work one night years ago and made an excel spreadsheet that would take into consideration; the gas prices, exchange, how far you needed to drive to the US and back, the cost in gas, and your vehicle's estimated gas efficiency to calculate if it was worth driving down for gas.
I should see if I still have it...

I should see if I still have it... | Should also factor in opportunity cost in how much time is spent and put in a dollar value for that time.
ie if you work and make $20 per hour then use $20 per hour for time spent to drive across the border and back factoring in different amounts of time one may need to cross the border.

You hear of people driving 10 minutes out of their way or waiting for 30 minutes in line to save $2 of gas. Quote:

Found it. Throwing it up here if anyone wants it. Download the file to use.
Enter the exchange, pump prices, distance to and from the US, amount of gas you need and your km/100L. The negative difference is what you're saving vs filling up in Canada. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7x...ew?usp=sharing |

seems to be going down slowly.... I think I'll wait another week. It's been declining slowly week by week over the last 3 weeks.
Would have been good to buy on Friday though, it dipped.

Do you trade FX? If not buy it when you need it, regardless of rate. Keep it simple.
