Question for 2nd gen xterra owners

how did you guys deal with the issue of potential SMOD? radiator bypass? new radiator? just trying to get some insight before I decide to buy one

Definately do the Rad bypass.. for the price, its not worth the hassle and potention cost in getting the SMOD. Luckly i have the 6MT so i didn't have to worry about it, if i had an auto it be a no brainer.

I have a Frontier - I did the bypass. Takes all of 30 seconds as you simply swap hoses

easy solution

buy a 4runner

def first choice, but way overpriced

premature clutch problems are for people who don't know how to drive stick properly. I had a RX7 before and if i drove the X the same way, i'd probably have that problem. Its a truck after all, driving it like a sports car will kill it faster. I do notice i barely ever use the 6th gear. But then again, i don't drive fast with all the steel armor and big tires, things a tank though. Im at 113K and no signs of major wear yet. *knock on wood*
