fliptuner 02-07-2015 01:21 AM

Just got back from house game.

quasi 02-07-2015 06:12 AM

I play live casual player, not as much as I used to but probably 1-3 times a month. I play mainly at Fraser Downs or Hard Rock. I usually play 1/3 or occasionally I play Tournaments on Saturdays.

Anyone else remember when River Rock first got NL Holdem? 3/6 game with a $200 max buyin because of the BCLC regulations had a cap on it. I'm not sure why they didn't run a 1/2 at that time but it was pretty ridiculous.

I really enjoy poker, I like the strategy involved I even like reading about it I would say it's one of my favorite hobbies.

punkwax 02-07-2015 07:08 AM

I've read a couple books on it as well. Definitely don't play as much as I/we used to but have won the last 3 home games I've played so I guess I'm not too rusty.

Only casino outside of Vegas that I've enjoyed playing poker at is Cascades. Good crowd I find. Funny older dudes who just enjoy playing and don't take winning/losing a few bucks too seriously. River Rock is typically full of assholes in my experience. Only played there a handful of times and don't have much desire to return. Maybe I've just had bad luck with the table personalities.. That said, I usually stick to roulette if I'm at a casino though.

murd0c 02-07-2015 09:32 AM

I used to play 15 years ago the time and then it goto popular with all the tv shows and going to the casinos you get all of these rich asians making stupid bets with nothing so I just stuck with fun house games with buddies while drinking.

Cascades room is more like a poker hallway. They shut the old room down, put in a restaurant and jammed the poker room if you want to call it that where the washrooms used to be in between slot machines. I used to play there a lot, I won't step foot in there anymore.

That sucks. I liked it there... must have been referring to the old poker room.. haven't been there in 6-7 years.

i play poker too. Only tournaments in casino i play are the big buy in ones, took a big bad beat in the $777 past fall for chiplead. Found the $60 are a hyper turbo fest and is time wasted.

Made $40,000 profit last year playing online on stars/FTP

if you guys want advice on hand history or strategy, post here!

if you guys play tournaments that is more than $50+ online, do not bother playing on weekdays, regulars online will crush, play on sundays! (pokerstars/FTP)

online midstakes is too reg infested, game isn't looking too well in the upcoming years.

Nabatron 02-08-2015 12:25 PM

play mostly at cascades since its closer to me but play sometimes at fraser. I usually play tourneys since they are cheap but will sometimes play 1/3 at cascades. As for the room it is shit compared to fraser. The thing with fraser though is management fucks that room on a continuous basis. It has around 14 tables for cash/tourney and when the bad beat was huge they had like 2 tables of cash going and a cap of 2 tables for tourney. They also had around 30+ waiting for cash game but didnt have the dealers to open up more tables. This happens on a regular basis there which pisses alot of the players like myself off...

Sunday million today online is so tough compared to live. Can barely cracked even at 25 L

Can barely go even at 25nl lol .. live is a million times softer.

What bad beat was it? day 1 or day 2?

I almost hit the final table stars sunday million last week.
Got owned twice by running cards. had like 2 mil chips and got knocked to 500 after those 2 hands and exited.

I've played poker for a living for 2 years.. Travelled quite a bit, played private games, etc...

It's a complicated game and I've spent quite a bit of time studying it. Live games are still easy to beat, online is drying up.

I'm still pretty young so I just did it for a cool experience. I still play quite a bit but I'm in the midst of starting my career (I graduated school just under a year ago).

I play the RR 2/5 pretty often, and bigger if it runs.. kinda rare nowadays.

Private games are kinda tough to get in to, they are also pretty big. I've ran pretty bad in them in the last bit, so I'm currently just sticking to the casino.. Nice and easy! Variance is a bitch, no matter how good you are, playing high stakes and shot taking is pretty much like a lottery. I played some dude heads up, who was clicking buttons at 50/100 NL, and I couldn't win a dime. The way you beat this game and make actual money is through consistency and discipline.

My friend just took LOA to play full time. Been running pretty good at the big events and cash. Apparently Macau isn't that great for poker as it is for table games.

How can table games be good anywhere?? I was in Macau in October. The games were good for the stakes we were playing
