New Gaming Computer Build

Hey all,

wondering if some of you can come up with a build for me from parts I can pick up at NCIX. I'm looking to spend about $1,000.

Needs:
CPU
MOBO
SSD
RAM
Case
PSU
GPU
no need for another HD as I already have one I can swap over.

Thanks!

Thanks Razor.

Why the radeon rather than a Nvidia? Can you please explain to me the difference? i've always used Nvidia in the past.

thanks,

290X performs similar to a GTX 970 while costing less.

All the components aside from the video card is going to cost around 650 after taxes, so you only 350 left for your budget.

this is a sale from Craigslist that i found. Do you think its worth it if i am able to picked it up for $900? I've tried building it from parts from NCIX but i can't seem to get it to this price.

depending on what kind of gaming you do...

my current gaming pc is actually running pretty much the same hardware...
im at 8gbs of ram, 2 tb hdd, an asus gpu not nvidia, and a hero vii.

i can run csgo at top settings at like 300fps, im pretty sure it's higher, csgo just has a cap

That's an ok deal, it's only worth around $1150-1200 in parts off the top of my head,

But you'll probably end up upgrading that video card fairly soon.

There's not much benefit from going to an i5 to an i7 (diminishing returns), so it's better to budget more towards a video card, hence the recommendation of an i5 + 290X (which destroys the 760).

Just a few resources for you to look at.

Logical Increments - PC Buying Guide - Gives you a breakdown of components and their cost.

Pick Parts, Build Your PC, Compare and Share - PCPartPicker Canada - virtual builder. Helps to determine compatibility. Useful to find out if that video card will fit into that case.

Best Graphics Cards for the Money: February 2015 - Recommendations for graphics cards and a chart showing their rankings.

ChooseMyPC.net | Cookie Cutter PC Build Generator - If you're really lazy, plug in $1000 and see what it recommends you buy.
