Orlando crowd looks solid. Just what the MLS needs.
And man did they ever pull that win out of their ass at the end.

Some thoughts:
- Sam Adekugbe probably has broken ribs. Can't fault him for going all out for the ball though.
- Kekuta should have gotten a red on that tackle on Collin. He should sit the next game anyway.
- Disappointed in Mezquida today.
- Koffie is showing some rust, or he's letting the physicality dictate his play.
- Rivero seems to be living up to his DP tag. 3 goals in 3 games is nothing to sneeze at. Can he crack 20?

The tackle on Sam should have been a red card. Had he went cleat ups, it would have surely been a red card, and the goalie clearly went into the tackle with cleats way up. I'm suprised we did not make a bigger deal of the tackle. Quote:

Sucks for Sam...Ricketts is pretty jacked lol the guys pretty much twice his size.
hopefully it's not broken ribs, i haven't heard anything yet.
Koffie did a pretty good job but yeah he was getting too physical at some point in the game
Teibert is off for international duties so Mid options are a bit limited
Looks like Rosales is out for at least 4-6 weeks...that really sucks.
Rivero has been amazing, hard to believe he's only 23. It's a stretch to hope he keeps up the scoring pace but it'd be nice if he can get other guys going too

^^ like the canucks?
At least the whitecaps come from a pedigree of winning. Whitecaps/86'ers have won championships in every league they've been in except MLS. Cups in NASL, CSL, USL ... can't say the same about the Canucks.

Atmosphere in Orlando looked really good. Will be interesting if they can keep it up, although moving into their new downtown stadium will help.
Koffie was really getting under Kaka's skin with the physical play during the 1st half.
3 games in and the injuries are starting to pile up in key spots. Looks like the Caps will have to rely on their depth over the next few weeks. Would like to see Rodriguez start again at CB, but I know Robinson is going to give Kah the start against his former team next Saturday. Unfortunate because I think Portland will expose Kah and Waston with their transition game.

Cascadia clash coming up...anyone going to the game?
Manneh suspended for one game and Rodriguez suspended for two for nut-grabbing Vancouver's Diego Rodriguez banned for grabbing Aurelien Collin's crotch - Planet Futbol - SI.com
Least there's some veteran presence is Earnshaw and it looks like Cristian Techera is close to signing with the Caps. He could be that 1-2 Uruguayan punch with Rivero.
Hopefully no one else gets injured/suspended, the roster is thinning out at an alarming rate right now.

It was a pretty poor game overall, but we took our chances when we had them.
Koffie had a pretty poor game and I think with what Deybi Flores showed in 20 minutes means that Koffie's time with the club could be in jeopardy. Teibert is not quite as physical, but he has shown an ability to adapt to the holding midfield role well and he seems to get forward on occasion. Laba had a pretty average game too, though an average game for Laba is still pretty good by MLS standards.
I'm glad the team signed Earnshaw who is a proven poacher. He'll be helpful later in the season when Rivero gets too many cards for simulation in the box.

lol
it's something...the best thing you could hope for is to capitalize on chances when you get em. Robbo was spot on and doesn't pull any punches when he was asked about the game.
Ousted was pretty clutch too...if he didn't make that late save it would've been game over.
Hopefully we're not using up all our luck, cus it'll be needed later on.
I'm hoping that deal for Techera falls through, Earnshaw is good but he's not meant to be a full time striker. If/when Rivero goes down they can't just rely on Earnshaw/Mattocks.
Flores was a little dynamite...really young too at 18. It'd be nice if he can keep the pace and give them a better option in Mid when Koffie isn't up to snuff. He's been too aggressive to start the year. He's gonna get a red one of these games.

Just started tuning into the season and this is probably the best roster the Caps have assembled of all of their history. Earnshaw, Manneh, Rivero and possible Techera provide the offense, Morales, Rosales and Laba in the mid and Waston at the back end. Ousted is a pretty good keeper for MLS quality too. I'm liking their chances this season in the league and the Concacaf CL.

They may have the best roster on paper now, but they sure aren't playing like it. A couple years ago YP Lee and Demerit played their hearts out, and of course as much as we'd like to forget him now, Camilo was a pure striker ...
I'm not sold on Earnshaw yet - that guy hasn't been able to stick with any club.

^ YP Lee was in a class of his own, especially in 2012. Jay Demerit played well in 2012, but he retired at the right time as the league has gone up in quality in the last couple of seasons. But, the squad hasn't had a true leader since Jay left.
You're right though - the pieces are all there. Can Robbo take the squad to the next level? Is he willing to switch formations once in a while and adjust tactics mid-game? If Octavio goes down/gets card accumulation, we don't have a striker with the football IQ to play the lone striker role well.

Wish YP was a few years younger when he joined the Caps. I like Beitashour and he does a pretty decent job most nights, but YP would really amp up our back line right about now.

If YP was a few years younger i doubt he'd go to MLS. He'd probably still be in Europe...It's too bad his stint here was short.
Rivero's just been named MLS player of the month
He just barely beat Kaka out in voting
I was just reading this article about Rivero...he seems like a good kid. Hopefully he takes the Caps offence to the next level and maybe move on from the MLS if he continues to get better (without shafting the Caps a la Camilo lol) Who is Octavio Rivero? | Vancouver Whitecaps FC
i'm hoping the possession numbers against LA will be better. They know they can't keep squeaking by and hoping for last minute heroics every game. At some point goals will go in and they'll get buried by half time if they don't change anything.
So far its looking like Koffie will be coming out in place of Teibert. Which is good, I think Koffie needs a break and needs to rethink his game.
