This may not be the popular opinion, but have you considered selling the baby?
The market is hot right now, and think of all the free time you'll have?

srs tho, the first step would be to post the MR2 on the forums. Word of mouth will spread, and hopefully you'll find an interested party quickly. In a few weeks if you have no bites, it's off to the masses on craigslist. If it's priced right, it should sell quickly. It's the season for sexy cars, and the MR2 is definitely sexy.

The MR2 will also not be very useful in the winter. No argument the MR2 is a lot more fun than the Yaris, but that's about the only thing going for it, since it is so much less practical.

Well, I actually didn't ask for opinions on which car I should sell. I was asking how I should sell the MR2.
Isnt the yaris just sitting around as well? being underutilized? It has zero hope of maintaining value or being collectible. Im just trying to give you advise from a car guy perspective who makes money fixing and flipping cars. If you sell the mr now and hold onto the yaris and let it rot away then in five years decide to sell it you'll get dick squat for it. The yaris will sell faster now for actual money. put some of that money into the mr and the mr is worth way more money now too. hold onto it for a few years (stored properly) and maybe you find a good use for it. kids love cruisin around in droptops and they dont need to be ten to do it. Also it may hold or appreciate in value due to its rarity and lineage.

I'll refrain from commenting as I may suddenly find myself only owning half of each of the vehicles.

I don't argue that the MR2 will hold value better than the Yaris... but I'm not looking at this from an investment point of view, but rather on the practicality.

Yes, it's true that we only need one vehicle at this time (the RX330), and had both the MR2 and Yaris sitting unused, but the thinking is that at some point in time, we may actually need to have a second vehicle for everyday use again, and the Yaris is by far the more practical choice for so many reasons.

I was reading that kids under 10 aren't supposed to ride in front seats of vehicles. Is there any actual law specifying when they are legally allowed to do so?

I've definitely considered a hardtop... only problem is they're not that easy to find locally or even in North America, since they never sold them on this side of the pond. Probably have to get one imported over from the UK. There are a lot of them available on eBay UK, but obviously not the easiest to get it shipped over.

I imagine that it has to do with the risk of a passenger airbag deployment causing serious head/neck injuries. I don't think it's illegal though.

The rational thing to do would be to sell both the Yaris and the MR2, put the proceeds and the savings on insurance/storage/maintenance for those vehicles into dividend stocks. Once the kid becomes a teenager, take the proceeds from your investment and buy your kid a clunker and yourself an older fun car.

booster seats your friend. its based on weight and height.

If possible you turn off the pass side airbag. many two seaters have such an option.

Yup, the hard top was definitely hard to find. My brother had to order his from the UK and it wasn't cheap shipping it here in a giant wooden crate. Last picture we took before he sold the mr2 spyder Only if i had the cash, I would have bought the mr2 off him instead.

Is the car still local? If so, I'm guessing it's the only hard top MR2 Spyder around...

Some of the automatic ones can be a real pain though, my friends Sky kept the airbag disabled when his then-girlfriend got in it because apparently she didn't weigh enough.
