Roads are not built there like there are built in Canada. One year my dad went and they where paving a road in our village. I went 3 years later and the road was dirt with chunks of asphalt spread around.

The sad part is over 1000 people have died because of the heat.

you should see how they build their road in Burma

they spread out 6"+ gravel rock as a base, then they have children (mostly girls) spread out smaller gravel to fill in the gaps, they compact it then spread the gravel again.....there's a guy on the side of the road heating a barrel of tar over a small fire....they then take jugs of the tar and spread it out over the packed road base....the kids come back out and spread fresh gravel over the tar....compact again etc

unreal

Are those roads made of chocolate? Vegas hits 45 in the summer and I've never seen that happen. What I have seen is people with cheap shoes leaving footprints if they stand in one spot too long.

It should be noted that Paldi has been a ghost town for a very long time.

But, yes, there are many ethnicities on Vancouver Island, but the majority of the population is white or native.

Where is the temperature probe for that sign? My guess is direct sunlight.

According to Rio's wikipedia page quoting a source of Brazil's National Institute of Meteorology, their record high is 39°C.

I never really kept up with the kids from Paldi that I went to school with. I knew a few of the Mayo's and some of the Japanese kids from the area. How long has it been a ghost town? Anything still there? I've been thinking about going back to Lake Cowichan for a visit this summer.

Temperatura no Rio é de 43,2 graus e bate recorde histórico. - Rádio Coração - Rádio Católica FM em Dourados e Região - MS!

43.2 with a humidex of 48 this year. I've personally been there on days where the humidex was 50+.

Rough estimate would be around 15 years, give or take a few. When I was in middle school in the late-90s, our bus went through Paldi and there were still a few people living there, albeit in decrepit shacks.

It had been blockaded several years ago (maybe a decade?) by a group of natives, IIRC. A few years ago, it was up for sale, but I'm not sure what came of that. There are still a dozen or so properties between Paldi and Cowichan Lake Rd.

We've hit 40 here in BC. Lytton to be exact.

Vancouver 34 is about as hot as it gets.

Uncle, who lives in LA, makes it a point to bring a heavy coat with him when he visits us in the summer, lol. When he came here in 1960 during a heat wave, he told us it was nice cool weather. Meanwhile, we were sweating............. Hottest recorded temperature in LA was 45C back in 2010.
