The only goals in the ENG vs. JPN semi-final match were PKs plus an own goal. These are teams that are supposedly better than the Canadian women. No wonder woman's soccer is not taken literally and a World Cup event was allowed to be played on turf.

You can't get rich playing professional team sports as a female. That's the harsh reality. They're lucky just to earn a college scholarship or to play in the Olympics/World Cup.
The female athletes that are actually bringing in the big bucks are in individual sports (ex. Sharapova, Williams, Danica Patrick and Yuna Kim.) Majority of their earnings come from endorsements.

Look at the leverage Canada had. The only other country that put in a bid was Zimbabwe and they pulled out. No one else was bidding against Canada. What is FIFA going to do? Force Canada to replace all of their existing turf fields with grass? Who's going to pay for it? Might as well cancel the whole thing at that point.

Fixed that for you. Watch some Copa America matches which coincidentally happen on the same day as the Women's World Cup matches. Very exciting football featuring some of the best players in the world.
