I think Philadelphia has a huge contract issue starting next year. They resigned Jacob Voracek last year to an 8-year 8.25 million per year extension and so far he has 1 goal and 8 assists. Next year that will be a top 10 salary contract for a guy that's currently tied for 165th in points.
I don't know how they can possibly get rid of that contract. Also Claude Giroux hasn't lived up to the hype of his first few seasons. Ever since he was named captain he has continually under-performed.
That is usually the case but last year was a career year for him and he's already showing clear signs of decline due to age. He's going to be 35 next June.
Where is "home" for Hamonic? Western Canada is not closer to Manitoba than where he is currently in NY...
Suspected health issues with a family member, so being in Canada would allow for the family member to be moved to where he is for medical help. Also being in Canada, he wouldn't have to hassle with connections, immigration. He played in the WHL so maybe he enjoys it out west?
Canucks don't have much that would appeal anyways. All I can really think of that's expendable is picks, Jensen, one of Baert/Shinkaruk, Cassels, Hamhuis. Out of those, probably Cassels, due to MDC connection, and Hamhuis intrigue Snow the most
the other Western Canadian teams have infinitely better D assets than we do
if Benning somehow lands Hamonic, he'd be some kinda GM god i my eyes.
95% chance he'll end up with the Jets. I'd put money on that.

outside of seeing the young guns play and develop it's about the most excitement we can get out of the team this year
Benning ain't gonna inquire until he knows what the other teams are offering. It's his only choice lol, he's pretty much outgunned so his best bet is just to wait and see.

how is Benning supposed to find out what the other teams are offering, if he doesn't inquire to Jets GM and ask for the price lol
Doesn't hurt to call and find out what the asking price is than to not call at all imo
Benning's an old boys club type of GM, not to mention he's got an extensive network of scouts and acquaintances league-wide.
He's gotta have some inside info on what the other teams would offer if they've been made
ultimately, he's probably keeping his mouth shut cus he knows we've got nothing desirable on a D to D trade
