NHL did the right thing. I know I didn't say so at first. But after seeing that hit a few times. He blindsided Polak. A hard hit lime the above is fine, but Jake pretty much decided to throw the hit regardless. Polak may have been okay, but the league wants to crackdown on dangerous late blindside hits as history showed us in this past that it never really ends well for the player throwing the bit nor the guy that receives the hit
Gudas hit on Farnham in Februrary didn't warrant susp, and Virtanen's did? Consistency.
have you seen (or read about) who runs the nhl?
player safety department is player safety by name only
might as well be monkeys in the background determining logic for suspensions

I failed u because the league isnt cracking down on shit! They are so inconsistent it isnt even funny...exhibit A gudas hit on farnham pretty much the exact hit on polak just not going at a faster speed...the NHL is a joke when it comes out to handing out suspensions...
He is a great player but can snap and go Raffe Torries/Matt Cooke too.

On Gudas, at that point he had already been ejected from 2 games in the prior month for illegal checks. So that was his 3rd game misconduct/match penalty for illegal hits in 4 weeks. And didn't receive a single suspension.
He did get suspended earlier this season for a check on Mika Zibanejad and also received another game misconduct (no suspension) for a hit in October.
Basically, he's Raffi Torres ... But he plays for the Flyers, so the NHL doesn't care.
Raffi is he man! When gillis didn't resign him all our grit and hits left as well...till kenins showed that he could hit for half a season then is most likely gone at the end of the year!

I think Mccann has a higher ceiling then Virtanen, Virtanen has been able to show more this season because of his size right out of junior where Mccann needs to put on 10-15lbs.

i kinda agree but its way too early still to really concretely say who's got a higher ceiling
McCann would definitely benefit from a year or two in Utica building strength and good habits
...that is until fuckface Benning decides to trade him for another plug because he wasn't sure if the scoring will translate into the NHL
imo, Jake would benefit more staying in the NHL and learning the power game in measured minutes and limited roles
