No surprise there.

His numbers in the AHL were not very impressive.

And it was a free signing anyways

On the other hand, there really seems to be nothing coming out of Arizona for the Coyotes after the city ripped up the contract. Anyone knows what are they going to do if they don't have an arena to start the year.

IIRC another city has said it was willing to take on the team.

Then again, I don't think it's official, I think the other city just said that they see the Coyotes as an asset and sees their value.

There's talks of playing where the PHX SUNS play temporarily. Sight lines apparently are bad.

Coincidently, the Coyotes played there in the begining before relocating to Glendale.

Kenins for 575k could be the best signing this off-season if he has a breakout year (or at least keeps making Bo better)

too bad it wasn't an affordable 2 or 3 year deal

True there's still Demko in the pipeline but he's what? Only 20? Still a ways to go. Was hoping Eriksson would stick around for a couple more years as after Lack/Markstrom it's now just Cannata who's pretty average.

1 year for Kenins is good imo. If he can step it up next season I'm pretty sure there's a long term deal in the cards.

another update on McNally. agent says he can become a free agent aug 15. benning apparently will not sign him because he had a bad knee injury last year, and says theres too many people ahead of him on the depth chart.

Demko is 19, still has 2 more years of college left (unless he leaves school early).

I'm also hesitant to put all my eggs into the Demko basket. Highly-touted goaltending prospects flop all the time, despite success in junior, college, or even professional leagues in Europe.

Brandon Halverson (59th overall, 2014; 0 NHL games, active)

Success rate (100+ NHL games) from 1995-2004: 8/27 (29.6%)
Success rate (100+ NHL games) from 1995-2009: 11/43 (25.6%)

Now Peters, Markstrom, Allen, and Lehner all have a shot of making 100 NHL games, but even if they all make it, that's still only 15/43 (34.9%) from 1995-2009 2nd round goaltenders. And 100+ NHL games isn't exactly a high bar, either. Only 4 of those guys, at this point, are/were bonafide starters (being generous to Pavelec here). Again, Markstrom, Allen, and Lehner have a shot to be bonafide starters, but that's still a very low % even if you include all of them.

I'm not saying Demko will flop, but until we see what he does at the pro level, it's way too early to dub him "the next one."

For what it's worth, just a few years ago, Markstrom was the #1 goaltending prospect in the world and Cannata was the top goaltender in the NCAA.

yeah, they're among the teams seriously interested.
31st overall would be great.

Though if NYR supposedly turned down two 2nd rounders for Talbot, it'd be awesome if the Sabres were to offer 31st and 51st for Lack.

if JB can somehow get Sabres' 21st overall, he'd be a wizard in my books. But if a trade with Buffalo does happen it'll probably be for 31st overall.

hopefully we get the 31st pick for him, anything less then that would be a joke. It all depends what happens with Talbot since he's the hot goalie on the trade market right now.

31st and maybe another lower round pick. I think Lack is worth a bit more than the 31st pick but just a bit. Certainly wouldn't be unhappy with their 2nd rounder.
