Trash talk is trash talk. What he (allegedly) said goes way beyond that. If it's true, it's completely indefensible.
IMO all things are off limits when it comes to competition. When you're competing at the highest level and need that last bit of dirty to gain a competitive edge, I'm ok with that. Ref's can penalize him for misconduct, but it's not like he cheated.
Well, that's the nature of hockey, specifically.
The tolerance level of what's considered good sportsmanship is very lenient when compared to any other sport.

At the highest level, the standards should be HIGHER. These guys are supposed to be professionals and role models.
There's a reason why people think players like Burrows and Avery are pieces of shit. Ok, so what they do is "technically" within the rules, but it's not really creativity or imagination or inventiveness, it's just being an asshole, IMO.
Plus, how can the refs suspend or penalize him for something that still remains "alleged", and that nobody else heard? The league DOES have a history of taking action when it's clear something happened. Exhibit A.

I would not want to be in Jb's place with the first overall pick. I don't know what Iwould take 1st over all. A potential #1 elite defense or a potential #1 elite center. I think I would lean defenseman, BUT it's kind of weird that he didn't make Canada's roster for the world juniors.

If you get #1 pick then you take BPA which is Matthews. You'd be crazy to take someone else over him. He missed last years draft because his birthday was 2 days after the age cut off. If he was in that draft then he would've easily been in contention with McDavid for #1 pick
