Rumble Roller

Recently tried my friend's rumble roller and thought was quite effective.

Any of you guys use it here? Do you use 13 inch or full size? I think 13 inch might be sufficient for me but I may not be aware of additional stretches full sized one offers. Also which brand do you use? I found some are pretty expensive.

You can generally do all foam rolling using the 13" one.

I got mine from Fitness Depot for $30 - a generic one which is basically material of the rumble roller around a PVC pipe.

IMO no difference between getting a "brand" one such as the Rumble or Trigger Point and a no name one. Just avoid the soft foam ones (the ones you generally see at community centres) because they soften overtime.

I have the real rumble roller and wish I went with the grid instead.

flagella 10-05-2015 05:02 AM

What do you mean by grid? The real rumble roller is spiky one right? Still grasping the definitions here as they seem to vary person by person.

SkinnyPupp 10-05-2015 06:14 AM

I use one 3 times a week, feels so good man :sweetjesus:

My gym has both sizes, but if I were to only get one, I'd get the full sized one.

Also make sure to get a black one, as it didn't take long at all for the blue one to be too soft for me.

bluejays 10-05-2015 07:20 AM

Yeah rumble is the spiky one, grid is just a normal roller.

originalhypa 10-05-2015 09:27 AM

I have a Grid triggerpoint at home, and a regular foam roller (made of real foam!) at my cabin. There is a huge difference between the two. Maybe Santa will bring me a new triggerpoint so I can retire the foam.

I love my triggerpoint. I use a lacrosse ball for the glutes, but the roller does everything else.

I'm a 13" guy. You can take them with you if you're doing something out of town. Plus you don't need a lot of room to make them work.

melloman 10-05-2015 09:28 AM

I use the rumble roller, 13" size.

To me I like the small one as I can concentrate more in certain areas.
Only time I wish I had the full size is when I'm rolling my lower back.

Thanks a lot for responses. I'll do a bit more research and invest in one.

TOS'd 10-05-2015 07:57 PM

This thread is weird if you don't know what a rumble roller is..

wingies 10-05-2015 09:47 PM

I use the grid and m80 roller (http://www.amazon.com/M80-Groove-Mas.../dp/B00HNTVJ1U)

The m80 roller is the shit, hurts liek hell but I feel so good after

hamsup 10-06-2015 07:56 AM

i have the full size but i am a pretty big guy.... i would get the blue one instead of the black... i heard the black is the most aggressive one they have

BinsentoW 10-06-2015 06:47 PM

I have the long one, but I usually do one leg at at time, and then use lacrosse ball/balls for my back. If I were to get it again, I'd get either the 13" or a PVC pipe wrapped with a thin yoga mat glued onto it (cheap and effective)

melloman 10-07-2015 02:10 PM

Ah yeah, definitely get the BLUE one.

It's the softer of the two.

Mr.HappySilp 10-07-2015 02:10 PM

What is a Rumble Roller and what it does@@ just looking at youtbue is just some ppl putting it over their legs and roll it under....

At first I though it was to help roll your stomach or something.....

racerman88 11-01-2015 12:13 PM

Use it to stretch and get the knots out of your quads, hamstrings and IT band

melloman 11-02-2015 08:40 AM

I use it mainly for:

-Hip flexor/top of my quads.
-Lower & Upper back
-Lats after heavy pull days

Derek_N84 02-18-2016 10:52 AM

I use a grid and a rumble, both the generic ones from fitness depot.
Don't forget to add a lacrosse ball for the real precise spots, oh and some bands to floss with! That should cover most of your maintenance needs

I have a regular foam roller, lacrosse ball, and tiger tail. Tiger tail is pretty good.

unit 02-19-2016 07:10 AM

i just use a regular high density roller for back pain.
for legs i use a roll recovery r8. its amazing

Spidey 03-26-2016 06:42 PM

I am a fan of the original travel roller. I have tried pretty much all of the rollers out there. I personally like the travel roller best.
