Junk removal

Anyone have experience with junk removal.
Family is moving to a smaller place, have 1/2 a garage of scrap and stuff.

Looking for pricing or approx and what to look out for.

no one is available to give us price without seeing the junk and based on which city. Let me know what I should look out for or referrals? I'm in Richmond city center if that helps.

Thanks in Advance.

If you don't mind doing the labour yourself, your can usually rent a pickup with or without a trailer for quite cheap

Going to the transfer station an off-loading is the easy part. Loading might take a bit if there isn't a lot of space. If you're renting a cube van to move, I'd suggest using it to go to the dump afterwards.

pretty much what i did when i helped an inlaw move stuff out.

if you're in richmond, going to the dump in vancouver by kent off marine drive is not hard. like flip said, rent a uhaul cube, load her up, drive down...drive in like drive thru...when it's your turn your truck will already be on the weigh station, wait like 2 min. they print out an invoice and you pay...then you drive in, back it up and start chuckin it on to the ground/in the pit.

Half garage is gonna a be really expensive if you have someone do it for you.
1800gotjunk charged me $232 for for taking up 1/8 of their truck. Half garage should be over a thousand bucks.

One option is if the stuff is still good or usable, post a for free ad on CL.
When I took out my carpeting, I put up a for free ad and had tons of people asking.
One person wanted to make his own cat scratching post, another person was in band and needed the carpet as sound deadening.
We even had a realtor who wanted the carpet for her rental house.

Once you get rid of some of the stuff, then call those junk companies.

Trust us, if you have a way to get it to the dump, it's worth the effort.

I just went on 1800gotjunk's webpage and within 1 minute I got their estimated price page.
A full truck is 10x8x5 and their price is $678 plus tax.

So now you need to figure out how much stuff you got and will it fit in 1 truck or more.

The dump on Kent is pretty fast. I never paid on arrival, they always weigh you full at the entrance and then when you get to the exit they weigh you again to see the difference. If there is a bunch of metal you may want to take it to a recycler on mitchell island.

Had to deal with huge amounts of junk a few times. Guys that come and load it up will charge a thousand bucks, going to the dump seemed to take way too long.

Best bet if you have any decent amount is the junk bin. They'll bring it, you load it up (can take a few days if you need to) and they charge you around 500 bucks to dump it. Just search craigslist, you'll find them cheap. One guy I used was named JP, his number was 778 838 8842. Not necessarily the best but worth a call.

might be a little late to post in this thread but for future reference if anyone needs a junk removal service, and lives in Richmond feel free to send me a PM.

I work for a small family run construction/renovations company and am willing to do some small jobs on the side. I've got a dump truck and 3 pickup trucks at my disposal.

If I'm already taking a load of debris to recycling from another job etc. there's a chance to work in a very reasonable price since I have very low overhead to cover. Or I could just do it on the weekend since I'm local, it's not a big deal for me.

Just a thought for anyone looking for an alternative to the bigger junk removal companies

A little late too but I went through the same situation about 6 months back. Had a bunch of furniture and misc junk to dump. Couple dressers, bed frame, and boxes and bags of junk which filled up an entire uhaul. The 2nd smallest one whatever size it's which is still fairly big. Rental, gas, dumping fees came to about $150. Previously inquired with many companies and I was looking at $500 at least so it was well worth it. Plus chucking shit from the uhaul into the pit is pretty fun.
