I seriously despise VancityBuzz and this article further fuels my dislike for the site and the people running it.
And the co-founder should know better posting stuff on his site that never should have been posted and feeds xenophobia whack jobs, imagine if someone posted his picture and called him a "terrorist" because of his turban...  | |

edit: to add, I never said everyone responding to the incident was racist, you should note I said there was a line between being concerned and being racist, I said many had crossed that line, and that is true, but not all

What if these 3 innocent men were assaulted or worse because of this fear mongering caused by Buzz? Worse yet, what if the apparent racist commenters were stirred up to vent their anger on say, refugees celebrating their arrival in Vancouver? How can you sit idly by and berate those mocking the bigoted fear mongers among us? Don't you have any shame?
Or let's play devils advocate and say, what if these 3 were as we feared, and upon news that they've been identified they decided to carry out plans ASAP, well there goes the chance of the police identifying the suspects and pouncing on them before anything is committed.

It's a tricky spot to be in.
These guys were just going about their day and vacation.
The shitty part is with everything going on in the world right now, regardless of right or wrong, people are going to be paranoid.
I'm just glad this got settled quickly no one was hurt. At least, not physically.

| Not saying this to agree or disagree with you but there have been quite a few high profile, so called "honor killings" in Canada and US. This obviously does not mean that there is an organized group calling for this however it would definitely point to certain people coming to Canada and bringing certain cultures here.
My brother is working in the news/journalist industry and has traveled all through the Middle East, most recently in Yemen while all the airstrikes were going on and has said that SOME people that come to North America are actually more strict because they is obviously a lot more influence than when they were back in their home country.
