Your post is completely out of context... The situation regarding muslims/arabs in the world is nothing similar to any race on this planet. We're lucky we have the atlantic ocean separating us and the middle east. Look at Europe right now, people are going bonkers of the nye attacks.

I get what your saying but do you believe it would be different if there were a group of "white" people flying planes into buildings, or bombing events or shooting up whole stadiums of people in the name of Christianity?

These are the reasons why there being looked at like this. I would not imagine it would be any different if it were another group of people.

What's your personal opinion? Do you think the authorities should've just ignore a suspicious incident or look into it. (I'm being careful with my words here. I'm not using "arrest" or "detain").

Everyone remember the mystery tunnel in Toronto that was found near the Pan Am Games venue?

Toronto Mystery Tunnel

When the police found out who dug the tunnels and confirmed there was "no criminal intent", that was pretty much the end of that story. If this incident is truly harmless in nature, I don't see why it would not yield the same result as that of the Mystery Tunnel.
My point is it is not illegal, that was it.
My opinion is that it is very suspicious, and the exact reasons (as a photographer) why I think about what and where I am shooting before I do it. Its not hard to understand the reasoning behind the concern and if I saw them doing this I would report it to the mall security right away.

Keep in mind that the notice is confidential and meant for VPD members only. Someone internally leaked it to VancityBuzz, and since it has been leaked, VPD had no choice but to make it public.

Why are people getting their panties in a bunch over VCB using Middle Eastern to describe these people. When cops have suspicion on figures of interested they will label what ethnicity the person is. Fuck this age of PC. Everything sets people off as a racism or whatever. First thing I thought of was guys scoping out for a robbery. Not a terrorist plot

Based upon recent happenings, if a group of "brown people" were to take over a federal building then chances are they would be killing people and therefore be killed themselves. I'm not saying that "white" people dont do similar things, but if your going to argue that there has not be a VAST difference between what these two compared groups have done then there is no point in discussing it.

See Sid Vicious reply. Sid and I clearly don't see eye to eye and that's cool with me, but this is why things are the way they are.

Boostedbb6, if you are on private property or not, if you are in a OPENLY PUBLIC PLACE that is accessible to all, there is zero assumed privacy. People are allowed to take photos of things and people and it is their right. You don't want your picture taken? Stay at home.

So what the hell does your argument have to do with private malls and this discussion of possible terrorist threats

You do know that Jesus was a military aged male of middle eastern descent right? and that white people can also be Muslim.

So what the hell does your argument have to do with private malls and this discussion of possible terrorist threats
That is what I said, its not illegal to take the photos they did. I'm not arguing, simply stating a fact.

I'm sure someone said it in here too boostedbb6, but a young kid with ~$1500 or more in camera gear taking pictures of stores or people on Dutch angles and all that other typical film student crap is a pretty huge difference between 4-5 large men in their 30's armed with shitty cell phones only interested in 'strategic targets' inside a high traffic public establishment

I'm not arguing that, simply pointing out that what they did is well within there legal limits BUT, again, I see the reason why there is concern.

Interesting, so the photos were actually leaked. Makes you wonder how much other suspicious activity takes place that no one ever hears about.

I hope VancityBuzz will stop their horrible journalism. They were the first to leak the internal document. Suspicious activity are reported every day, some of you here may have been reported at one point in your life over nothing. A group of Chinese people hanging out at Metrotown McDonalds wearing black hoodies and smoking? That's enough to get you called in.

Now imagine VancityBuzz leaked a picture of you. There goes your reputation.
