List your BEST Gel/Pomade/Wax Decided to make this thread to hopefully help some of us guys out there looking for a new product to use. I have always used Got2B Glued when i had a short and spiky in the front hairstyle which held great, but i have switched hairstyles to something more like this http://machohairstyles.com/wp-conten...15-500x500.jpg Now, my hair is currently not that long on the top but this will sorta be the end product of what i hope to have going forward, or maybe pulled to the side a bit instead of straight back. So, now i need to find the best pomade/wax (i hear gel isnt that great for this hairstyle) that will hold my hair in place and not be so hard and flaky. Any suggestions out there? From an old thread, someone posted this as the greatest product they ever used, and it seemed many were into the Gatsby product ( http://www.amazon.ca/Mandom-Gatsby-Q.../dp/B003ZX6T0O ) |
i use Layrite super hold and cement pomade. Just gave Joico matte clay a try and it's pretty good too |
I use Hanz de fuko modify pomade but for that type of hairstyle. Love their products |

The layrite super hold is easy to wash off. Gotta use soap for the cement one. |
rezuel(redtin), suavecito, layrite |
dippity do :troll: |
Old spice has good pomade. Works for me. What is the best? I've used coconut oil w/ some essential oil drops. Works fine |

I use layrite as well but I'm not a huge fan of the shine it has |
Currently using Imperial classic pomade. Used to use layrite, but couldn't really stand the smell anymore. |
http://i.imgur.com/PIbM8JF.jpg Fine Cosmetics Fiber Grease. It's the ONLY pomade I've used that doesn't lose hold when I sweat, and if it does, I can wet down my hair a bit and get back in style. Strong hold (hardly any change in shape after a full workday), and smells like pineapples. 20 bucks on Amazon, but it's a while to get it shipped from Japan. |

I use Gatsby spiky edge and cool wet wax. |
Baxter of California hard crème pomade https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/08...g?v=1448130315 had a sample of it, never used it, but took it with me when I went on vacation, and loved it! bought a bottle you've got to massage it into your hand, quite well, at first else you'll get clumps of product in your hair, once it's worked in your hair the hold is great, and you don't notice it, holds all day, and washes out with ease their clay pomade seems to be more popular though I don't normally use hair products (not since high school), so I can't exactly compare it with anything else nor do I know how it stacks up against other products :D |
For the past year and a bit I've been using Layrite or Suavecito. Either one in just the normal hold. I also use the Layrite or Suavecito Grooming Spray to compliment either pomade. Before that I would use Kevin Murphy Knight Rider. It's more of a paste with a firm hold but matte textured finish. It was good for the hair style I had then, which was more of a "messy" look. But with this product, you definitely need a good shampoo to wash it out. |
I have the "pompadour"/combover type hairstyle too and have probably tried 10+ products over the past 2 years as my hair is very stiff and it also grows in a forward direction (that's what my hairstylist says) so it makes it very hard for it to stay slicked back. I use a combination of a wax and surprisingly, Gatsby liquid wax http://emm-a-man.com/emmaman/wp-cont...ia-gatsby.jpeg The Gatsby liquid wax is surprisingly very very good, goes on like a gel but holds like a very strong wax and gives a very slight wet look and shine which I like. It also holds for the entire day and sometimes if I'm rushing to work and don't have time to shower it stays until the end of the next day too lol! |

Lush - Dirty Gatsby - Pink dirty for the everyday this is how my hair is look. pink for the special occasions for the i put some effort to going out the door look. |
my cousin left me his frankengrease when he came up from the states. it was pretty good stuff, had a citrus smell to it, much better than the plain waxy smell. it wasnt as shiny as layrite superhold, or as matte as the cement. more like in the middle. $16 on ama, or $14 on pomadeclub |
I just recently start jumping on the pomade wagon. I'm currently using Imperial (Classic Pomade) and it's not bad at all. This is my first time using pomade product to achieve the slight slick back (at an angle) so I don't have much to compare it with; my last used hair product was Gatsby wax. The pomade has a slight shine, its reallly easy to wash off. Because my hair is really "rough" I can't really control it that well. So even though the label says "strongest hold" its not doing a fantastic job at holding it. FYI, i also decided to try Imperial as my first pomade product because you can buy it locally in Yaletown, at a store called Masc. https://www.hedgelion.com/wp-content/uploads/IPCP_1.jpg |
