Looking to replace house windows and wasn't to sure about which company to get quotes with. I got one already with retroteck but I heard they are really bad company to deal with. Does anyone have any recommendations?

There's a long thread in RFD on windows, it's mostly info pertaining to window companies back east though. I've decided to go with West Coast Windows, primarily b/c I know of a couple people that used them a few years ago and they are very happy with their new windows. I've been to their house and the install job looked really good, but then what do I know. Of course you may be thinking that they are new windows, of course they would be happy, but the fact of the matter is I know of someone who cheaped out (don't remember the name of the company but I do recall seeing their ad in the mailouts that we get from time to time) and their windows started leaking within a year after installation.

I also got quotes from Centra, A-Plus, LongLife Vinyltek, Home Depot, Starline, and one other. West Coast actually has the best warranty of them all (after reading all the fine prints). It helps that they had a 15% off anniversary special too. I seriously considered Centra and LongLife as well. Centra's ratings CSA rating weren't as high and LongLife would've cost about 30-40% more, which I couldn't justify.

Good luck on your search.

Starline is our go-to for most projects, quality work both in materials and work imo

Just had my windows done by West Coast Windows, look really nice and they were easy to deal with.

I guess related to this... Do these companies install bug screens to my existing windows?

Also, how long is their useful life? My place is about 16 years old.
