Propane refill?

I just bought a propane tank from Costco, later to realize that it's empty. I called around Canadian Tire and multiple gas stations, and none of them do propane refills (only propane exchange, where I give them my tank and they give me a filled one, which is presumably used).

Where can I go to fill out my tank? Makes no sense for me to buy a brand new tank only to exchange it...?

I go to Superstore but basically most places where you see the big tank with the word Propane down the side can fill it up for you.

There's also that propane place across the street from Lake City Skytrain Station.

Mohawk on Canada Way and Smith Avenue - $24.14 including tax.

You can but do not exchange your newly bought costco tank. It has a nice fuel gauge that many tank lack.

I refill last week at supersave from empty to full was $22. Took the gas attendant 2 minutes to fill
RCSS was $15 for full tank

The beauty of your own tank is that if you bring a half empty tank to fill, it will cost you half of the full tank.

The exchange program is $25-30 everytime you swap. And if you have a half empty tank, you basically lose that remaining propane.

I always refill it at Superstore for about $16. I have one of the exchange tanks and they'll still refill it. Once the tank gets old looking (every few years), I'll take it for an exchange at whatever that price is, $25-30

Super save is the most convenient for me and they bill based on how much was filled just like a car. Superstore is the cheapest I've heard and you get pc points back. Those exchange tank places are good if your tank is approaching the 10 year mark. But you're normally paying $28 to exchange vs 22 to fill up. $6 extra each time isn't worth it. With fill up you can refill whenever, For exchange you either ran out of juice during a bbq or are exchanging prematurely.

I don't know if they still do it, but at one time Superstore wanted to charge me extra for "purging" a new tank. Basically it's the residual air pressure that's in the tank from pressure testing. So open up the vent valve and let the air out of the tank before taking it for filling. That's only on a new tank that has never been filled with propane before.

The costco tanks are marked "prepurged within 6 month of manufacture date". If they are not marked prepurged then definitely need to get that done

I just bought a new car and realized the tank is empty. I've called all of the dealerships and none of them sell gas. Any idea where I can fill up?

All joking aside enjoy the BBQ.

Try not to do pre-marinated meat. Unsold best before meat are usually marinated and resold with a new best before date.

For meat, I do T&T, RCSS, costco, etc. Wherever there's a sale.

usually hit up costco, superstore, T&T depending on who has a sale.
sometimes go to Supreme Meat Supplies if i'm near by. usually they have good sales on for meat.

I go to this korean shop on kingsway near boundary for short ribs. marinate with some korean sauce, throw it onto the grill and it taste awesome. very little fat on them.

I haven't refilled my propane tank in a while, and last time was in sumas, ended up being just being over $10 canadian for an empty tank, and the valve was leaking while being filled. In the US they told me there's no difference in price between automotive or recreational propane. Paz fuels in aldergrove told me in BC, they are allowed to mark up recreational propane by something upto 100% compared to auto propane. And the they never check the tank certification dates. 1 litre of propane weights just over a pound, and otter coop in Abbotsford is advertising $0.69/L.
