everyone remembers the kassian and a 5th for prust last year I'm not saying this is the same but the reason montreal even took kassian was cuz they wanted more in the trade just to take him off our hands i.e. 5th pick lol....if they do the trade I could see benning something dumb like tanev and a 2nd for kane! If it was for sibsa and a second I wouldn't mind the trade at all..

I would have traded anyone else for shinkaruk then grandlund...kid is small and doesn't really do much! His brother on the other hand would have been the better pick up...
Aside from Kane's off-ice issues, which are of course a big deal, the guy isn't as great of a player people make him out to be. Great potential, but he is yet to realize it in his 6 seasons of play. Hell, the guy hasn't played over 70 games or hit the 30 goal plateau in 4 seasons now. And he has only scored 30 goals once. Unless he changes his attitude he is going to crash and burn. No reason for the Canucks to pick the guy up, even for Sbisa.
That's Dim Jim for you. A GM who has talent in drafting young talent but gets fleeced in trades.
And trades away all our draft picks.
Also saw the other day that apparently we have the 3rd most scouts in the league and Benning has only hired 2 (his son, Brandon, and former NCAA coach Mike Adessa)
I'm down if we're able to pick Kane up for cheap. Ie, Sbisa/doresett/granlund/mid round picks.
Everyone brings out the kassian scenario but a lot of players in the NHL had off ice issues. Richards/carter/p Kane/ seguin/

Whitecaps took a page from Dim Jim recently. Attempt to trade for striker for money, deal gets accepted, player doesn't want to uproot family to play here, immediately gets rights traded to Mexican team for money.

Dim Jim would've traded for a forward, then learns forward doesn't want to be in Van, then trades said forward to Calgary for a shitty player AND one or two of our picks.
