Canada's 11th province Vancouver Island

The Vancouver Island Party wants to make the Island Canada's 11th province. To me this is a waste of money and will never happen. Just look at all the government agencies they would have to set up.

Will they have their own hockey team full of fucking seniors? God, some of these political pricks just love burning money.

actually, it should happen. teach these and the Quebec fucks a lesson once and for all. no renegotiation. no start up money from feds.

these are the type of idiots that voted "leave" in brexit ..

I guarantee 90+% of Vancouver Islanders want no part of this, but, hey, apparently because some crazy guy got some news exposure, we Vancouver Island "fucks" need to be taught a lesson?

Well, the good news, and I always look for the silver lining, is our provincial capital will be on the mainland. Probably in the Interior, 'cause you know, it would make too much sense to have it in the most populated region.

As stupid as this idea is, why would the feds care?
These guys are proposing separating from BC, not CANADA.

Waste of my tax dollars.

No. The stupid thing is that victoria is our capital.

70% of our MP's represent or otherwise live within a 1 hour commute of vancouver. So if parliament was in vancouver they could easily travel to work like a normal person, and then we would just have to deal with the remaining 30% for travelling into town. (I'm speaking for times when parliament is in session obviously).

But instead we make 90% of our MP's travel to victoria, and we pay them millions each year in expenses for traveling and LOA to represent their constituencies.

That's like me (who operates all over BC for work), putting my office in california. You might ask yourself why I might do this, well fuck, because then the company pays for my "vacations" to california every year.

Jmac 07-04-2016 10:44 AM

At this point, I think most MPs should be tele-commuting for most sessions, anyways.

Why do these walnuts keep popping up thinking that splitting things into smaller chunks is a good idea?

RRxtar 07-05-2016 04:36 PM

MP = MLA
Parliment = Legislature

belka 07-05-2016 05:54 PM

So who would get BC Ferries?

Let them leave and fund a bridge.
