So.... Can I play my cartridges in it still?

**edit**

Note that an AC adapter for the USB cable is required to play the system but is not included in the packaging.
Why the fuck would you not include a necessary cable, you scumbag nintendo

They do that in Europe and Japan but not usually in NA.

And no, it's smaller than your cartridges. Of course it won't play them

they've been doing this to the DS handhelds since like 2 years ago or so. their reasoning is people who are buying a new DS probably has an old DS already thus a charger is not included.

definitely gonna buy this. a part of me does wish it had bluetooth controllers but i respect that they kept it simple to keep it original feeling and also to keep the price down.

Read somewhere that it was going to retail for $80 in Canada.

As much as I'd love to relive my younger years, I have a feeling that I'd just buy it for nostalgia and never touch it. So I'll pass. Price isn't that great either, unless you really wanted all the games they have to offer.

Will it still require blowing air into the cartridge repeatedly, until blue in the face, to get it to work?

You could built a retropie system for a bit more and be able to play way more systems/games.

80 sounds pretty reasonable, how much do the originals fetch on ebay?
i'd consider it if someone finds a hack to put more games on it

hard to complain about the price when a single AAA title for the ps4 costs the same.

If you take a time machine back to when Donkey Kong was released. I'm pretty sure you'll pay the same price as that AAA title today after inflation.

The thing is powered by USB. Chances are, if you take your 1A or 2A USB phone charger, and plug the NES mini to that USB charger via the USB cable, the unit will get powered up.

Personally, I would expect Nintendo to have a follow up plan ready, and allow the device to play some additional games stored on some sort of external storage. The most obvious method would be to use the thing's built-in USB port to support some sort dock / external storage. From that point onwards, anything is possible.

But in that case, they should have made the NES mini like this:
