$1050 minus $200 plus tax, minus what you can sell a Note 5 for on CL. Hmm, very tempting...
in 3 months you can buy the phones from best buy

Yea Samsung store didn't even bother turning it on, and one was missing a battery as well all they did was scan the imei barcode that's under the battery, so if your trade in is missing the sticker chances are they won't take it

Don't ever listen to the guys at Best Buy. Most of them have no idea what they're talking about.

Samsung Store in Metro will take any phone for $200 credit off the price of the Note 7 for outright purchases.

I think they do the taxes on the pre-credit amount (lame as fuck) and then credit you $200

1050 x 1.12 - 200 = $976

How can they charge tax on non-existent revenue...so backwards.

Argh that's annoying. A credit should always come off the pre tax amount. Hmm $976 - $500 ish for a Note 5, so still paying close to $500 for a new phone. Will have to think it over.

There are probably 5+ variants of the Note 7 in the USA. Which are you referring to?

It might be something that's triggered by your power settings. Make sure you uncheck turn off touch key lights under the power saving menu.

These are the variants offered in the US:

N930V (Verizon);
N930A (AT&T);
N930P (Sprint);
N930T (T-Mobile),
N930R4 (US Cellular);
N930W8 (North America)

My understanding, Thet N930W8 is what is being sold in Canada right now. For the past few years, there haven't been many differences between the variants except for the supported bands and sometimes colour options.

Korean outlets are reporting the explosive batteries were farmed to third-party (China).

I distinctly remember my Note 2 battery being made in Korea by Samsung SDI.

It's a voluntary recall program. If you've charged your phone a handful times already and nothing has happened, Samsung's position is that you have nothing to worry about.
