Either way, any verbal assault to a woman and child regardless of race is bad enough already. I don't get why the person even bother recording it. Should've just called security or the police. There should be some sort of security at each station?

Transit Police have arrested a man for alleged racially-charged assaults and threats at a SkyTrain station
Peter Anthony Lee Gagen has been charged with two counts of assault and two counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm during an alleged altercation at Broadway-City Hall station on Saturday.
A witness says he stepped in to try and defuse a situation where a white man was hurling racist insults and threats at an Asian woman and her adult son at Broadway-City Hall station.
The conflict escalated, and the witness began recording a video of the situation. The video appears to show a white man spitting on the witness and then physically attacking him.
Transit Police began an investigation and arrested Gagen Thursday.
Gagen is scheduled to make a court appearance Friday afternoon.

It looks like he started recording midway - after he got involved. Maybe as evidence just in case, or maybe as an additional form of deterrence. Some people will drop it, say a few bad words, and leave when they're being recorded. Obviously that didn't happen in this situation, but looks like the video was at least helpful.
If security were at the station things wouldn't have gotten this far I assume.
Lastly, in this day and age, not a lot of people stop to give info as witnesses and shit. Car accidents, incidents like this, etc., more people just don't wanna get involved. Video footage helps. Not everyone just wants to get likes on WSHH you know.

Police say the 50-year-old man then allegedly tripped the woman, made racist comments towards her, and challenged people to fight when they tried to intervene.
They say the man also charged and grabbed a passerby, and pushed him into a glass wall before leaving the station.
