Creep Catchers - ghetto version of 'to catch a predator' What's up with these wannabe hoodrats? Going out and busting a bunch of pedophiles...I get it...they're trying to bring attention to this as well as publically shame the offenders (which they do deserve).... Now I see they have busted an RCMP officer : But when you see these goofballs all dressed in 'straight outta surrey' gear...it tells me they got nothing better to do. http://www.theprovince.com/news/loca...size=sw840x630 |

Good old vigilante justice but I hope sick predators don't start carrying if they're concerned it might be these guys.. |
https://scontent-sea1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...9f&oe=588052BE When I watched the video, I thought this guy was the creep, totally looks like one too. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100009933488224 |
Guy was an ex-con himself IIRC. Eventually going after alleged ChoMos like this could go too far. |
^Closet criminals going after other criminals to conceal their own criminal activities? Also, I think they're educated and got their law degrees from the University of Facebook. They seem to know a lot about criminal procedures and upholding the law. /s |
I get the theory, but the application is garbage. These guys don't have the skills, resources, or authority to properly investigate someone, and they're more interested in the attention/money (remember ads make money) than ensuring they're correctly accusing people. The "evidence" they supply is also all very easily faked, but of course you don't need real evidence to ruin someones life these days. They're also potentially interfering with police investigations (the ones who can actually arrest and charge people). |
I support the creep catchers. They are just shinning some light on what is really happening out there. They have the time and are not breaking any laws. Creep catchers are bringing us back to reality, reminding us that even in our civilized city, there are still those that prey on our children and we have to be more vigilant on what's going on when our children go online. If these guys are creeping on your kids, wouldn't you want the public to know and be warned? I don't see the cops doing anything or If they are they are not exposing a lot of light on this topic or is it Like drugs and car crashes where it is happening so often that its old news now? |
How Creep Catchers nabbed a Surrey cop | The Province How about someone start up "gang catchers" ... That's the real problem. Mind u, a group like that would be annihilated fairly quickly. |

In a way, you are already labeling them as guilty without these guys being formally investigated, charged, and tried by our justice system. Yes, are these guys that show up to meet these under-aged girls 100% guilty, i'd say there is a very high chance. But that is something that is up to the courts to decide. People are still innocent until proven guilty. There are already countless of cases (especially in the US) where accusers of rape, whom are 100% innocent, have had their lives ruined just because someone (often an ex-girlfriend) had accused them of rape. If these guys really cared about catching the "creeps," they should just send the emails/text messages to police and let them do the real policing. |
^ Not that simple either, the way courts and electronic data work in this country requires the device itself to be handed over, not just a record of the data itself... So unless creep catchers plans on giving the police an entire iPhone and whatever computer system the emails took place on every time they want someone charged nothing whatsoever will happen because the evidence is not good enough to constitute a charge otherwise. Nevermind the fact they could be actually fucking up a real investigation into the same person that they don't realize is occurring simultaneously. |
^not so sure about that. If they have some way of watermarking evidence should be ok. That's how it works with CCTV anyway.. companies aren't handing over recording devices each time surveillance is used in court. |

I agree, especially like with this case with the Surrey officer. They originally put out a name of the officer, Dan something, who was not even the officer actually involved. So now the real Dan has to deal with the backlash and people thinking that indeed it was him, from the public to people at his work. The articles mention that it has totally screwed up his personal life as well as his kids and wife. There is a way to do this, and these guys posting faces and names willy nilly isnt the way to do it. |
I would like to see how this all comes together, if someone spend weeks forging a strong emotional bond with another person over an online chat, and then they ask to meet in person, and then just at the last minute they drop "btw I'm 14"... I suspect a lot of people would still go to meet them, no necessarily even considering any kind of sexual relationship. |
are they different from Chris Hansen? |

It was said that they exchanged ~152 emails or something, and within the first 3 or so the 'creep catcher' made it clear she was 15. The rcmp guy asked many things like if she can "host" and all this stuff. |

"Hosting, that's what you call it?" |
Bring back the guys in super hero costumes. |

Even with that they have made mistakes, and found themselves the subject of media and public scrutiny many times with what they were doing. So if those guys who were doing this with all those resources, money, and technology behind them, as well as with some level of police presence still managed errors, and mistakes. These random thugs from surrey stand almost no chance to do anything worthwhile with regards to the law. Their only weapon is to shame these people, which can not only be ineffective depending on the person, it could also lead to incorrect parties being persecuted, and also dangerous from parties who seek revenge. |
that same cop gave me a ticket for speeding 70 on a 60 zone' boy... wish i can travel back in time and bring this video with me |

Honestly, if these guys gave a shit about the kids, they'd provide a tip to the police instead of making a video and posting it online for ad revenue. |
Only a fool would believe that what they are doing is effectively preventing the molestation of children, it's entirely possible that this behavior will actually cause more children to be molested. There is a often a massive difference between the actual and desired outcome of peoples actions... something to the effect of a situational paradox. Besides, the group leader looks like a gas station attendant, with any luck the RCMP will arrest him for having a hard drive full of loli porn. |
Surrey RCMP officer charged after Creep Catchers sting A Surrey RCMP officer has been charged after a police investigation into a Creep Catchers sting earlier this month, the second such case in recent weeks involving a law enforcement official. Const. Dario Devic was charged Friday by the RCMP with one count of communicating with a person under the age of 16 for the purpose of sexual interference or sexual touching, and one count of breach of trust related to this duties. On Sept. 7, the Surrey chapter of the vigilante group Creep Catchers gathered in a local parking lot to confront a man who had been communicating with a decoy working with the group. In messages exchanged online, the man sent photos of a man wearing a police uniform and a man wearing a towel. When a man arrived to meet what he thought was a 14-year-old girl, members of the vigilante group used a video camera to live-stream the encounter near Central City. In one video, which has been viewed online more than 30,000 times, Creep Catchers Surrey chapter president Ryan LaForge can be heard walking up to the man and saying, “Officer —, how are you? Creep Catchers.” The man fled. RCMP launched and investigation. Two days later, RCMP announced an officer had been arrested. He was later released on bail. Devic is expected in court on Oct. 19. It is the second incident in recent months in which a B.C. law enforcement official has been snared in a sting set up by an online vigilante group targeting alleged pedophiles. Earlier this week, it was announced that Kevin Johnston, a former B.C. deputy sheriff, had been charged with three counts of communicating with a person believed to be underage for the purpose of facilitating a sexual offence, and one count of invitation to sexual touching. According to news reports, communications between a man and the vigilante group Creep Hunters began in August after a group decoy posted an ad to Craigslist, pretending to be a 14-year-old girl. A man responded to the ad and began a conversation that later grew sexual in nature. Photos of a man wearing a sheriff’s uniform and of a naked man were also provided to the decoy. |

It's only a matter of time until they approach a creep and the guy already has a lengthy criminal record who doesn't care about anything, pulls a knife and stabs one of them in hopes to get away. With them posting their photos all over the place...they're pretty recognizable giving creeps an easy chance to keep a lookout for them. Keep their images on the down low to prevent an attack prior to the guy meeting the girl. One of the guys they've nabbed in the past could be looking for some vengeance and do it all over again. This time with some of his wannabe hoodlum buddies in the surrounding areas on a look out knowing what/who to look for. Chris Hansens show worked pretty well because he had the guy enter the house alone and there were already a dozen cops waiting for him. If anything they're just making the creeps use smarter methods... I'd be happier with these guys if they were do bust drug dealers who are selling shit laced with fentanyl to prevent teens from overdosing. |
