Waterproof good dress shoes?

With season being the fall and all.... expecting rain for the next 9 months lol.

Anyone recommend dress shoes that is waterproof? Decent looking as well? Tired of all the ones I buy just suck... being in the rain. Work in office environment but walking from my car or skytrain to the office in downtown in the rain can be hectic.

Just leave your dress shoes at the office

Then you can wear whatever the hell you want on the way there

Well, my ultimate plan was to wear it for work and sometimes for dressy events at night. Not a big fan of buying multiple pairs.

I've looked into this as well.
Only a few in the market that's good esp in van.

Cole Haan has them too but they aren't really "water proof" like gortex; they are their Warren Waterproof Chelsea edition shoes.

for really low budget: Essential Details Waterproof Slip On from Rockport.
Yes weird name but they are waterproof. I personally think it's fugly; the other ones are ok.

when you commute, just put on a pair of overshoes

Can't you buy waterproofing sprays or creams that you can apply to a regular pair? I've never done it so.....

It's not really that effective, it will protect the leather a bit but it will affect the texture and ultimately is not considered to be best practice for "good" shoes.

If you have a GOOD pair of shoes and want to protect them, the SWIMS shoe covers are solid options: https://www.swims.com/mens/galoshes/ (However, they are about $125 so you will likely need to be into decent shoes to bother).

Most guys seem to suggest that those are viable options but if you live in a climate with poor weather, beater shoes are a better choice.

^bingo
I was at Holts and considered the shoe boots but just looked so gay. If you have a pair of Aldo, u won't buy a shoe boot that is more expensive than your shoes. If you own a pair of $300+ pair of nice shoes, you are going to be parking at a under ground parking and you probably won't be worrying about your shoes in the rain.

^no matter which shoes you own, you're always going to get caught in the rain in this city at some point, despite your best efforts.

Thinking about picking up a pair of Pajar boots. Anybody have any experience? Quality, fit? I've got my eyes on these at the moment.

^ love it. the zipper is epic attractive for me as it makes it getting in and out much easier than palladin, then again, these are $220

Proper rain boots that look decent, then you can feel invincible in the rain.

does it go well with dress shoes tho? topic is about dress shoes, not just rain boots

neverLift 01-31-2017 12:16 PM

Depending on your office environment/dress code, they could be a stand in for dress shoes on particularly rainy days. They also come in black and don't stand out as being a rain boot. Though I agree, they are not going to work if you have a more formal dress code and need a dress shoe.

cheers
