The mazdaspeed3 and my SE-R are in two totally different classes man, the speed3 would walk my SE-R all day no matter what.
But yeah, thats one of the reasons I went with the SE-R, for the price its got the most power in its class

ohhh didnt know there is still a difference between SER vs SER Spec V
auto/manual i was applying to the last gen. Last gen's regular SER comes in auto, while the SPEC V came in manual only with slightly more power
The new spec v's have 200hp/180tq
The SE-R has 177hp/172hp
u should've got the spec V than
i was referring that for $24g, SER seems a really good deal like the mazda 3, if not better. Corollas,civic, lancer is out of the question.
$5-6 difference between speed 3, still quite a gap

Well, like I told you last week, my car was a bit of an impulse buy. But I dont regret it at all.
My next car will be more powerful for sure though 
As for differences, the SE-R only comes in auto, the spec v still only comes in manual
anyway lets get back on topic

SE-R is a great car for the price. other than the massive recalls they had in the previous versions, i think the new ones are all ironed out now. unfortunately, they don't fair very well when it comes to shoot-outs, according to magazine tests of course...so that type of coverage would not be too good for an uninformed consumer (ie: take it for a grain of salt).
price is pretty good these days as well as i just helped a friend get one for just over $26G's OTD.

Yeah as far as I know the new SE-Rs are pretty solid. I havent had any problems with mine.
I think the only drawback of the SE-R is the CVT transmission. Its not made for speed, so really its just a sporty economy car lol
But yeah I totally agree, most magazines dont seem to be too fond of the new SE-R/Spec-v models

in fact they barely touch the topic of SER/Spec V, racist i shall say...
SER ONLY comes in CVT or also come in regular transmission
i really do not like CVT at all, test drove friends mini with CVT, it felt.....kinda like camery hybrid, similar feeling.

second of all, the G35's were not weak, yes adon's was the best one, but a stock G is better then half the cars in that meet
