Went to the Burrard and Pender location today. Quite a long line and wait at lunch time, but seemed like its mostly tourists. I think the business people are turned off by the long wait (I waited in line over 20 minutes). Got the Okura and Korokke. The Okura was really quite sickening, although I think the japa-lady put on much more okra then I saw other people getting. The Korokke dog is my new favourite, its simply fantastic. Big strip of mashed potato gets layered over the hotdog, then covered in cabbage, tonkatsu sauce, and mayo. The Korokke dog is $6.00, but I can see why since it does include more topping than any other hotdog there.

HOLY FUCK!

Does anyone know approx. how much they're making per month or year? Just an estimate?

I drove by Japadogs on Burrard today at around 4-5pm and HOLY SHIT! The lineup was HUGE...like almost a full block with people waiting in line for a damn hot-dog..

The hot dogs aren't cheap either, as they're $5-6 for a hot-dog and some people would probably get a drink too($1 or so)

Also does anyone know if they have a permit to open a hot-dog stand there on Burrard or whats the deal with it(IE: How do you get it and is it hard to obtain a permit? etc)?

Thanks!

I'm guessing 4-6k a day

at 5 dollars a hotdog and the approximate cost per hotdog is 75 cents with labor.

Doesn't include drinks either.

Their rent is like 20 dollars a month. It's not "hard" to obtain a permit. Just need the money. And an inspection by a health inspector.

1200 customers a day if they're making 6k at $5 a dog.....that's probably not too far off

No, they just do whatever they please and open up whereever they want. How dumb of a question is this?!

^ Whoa dude calm down there kid

I'm asking because I'm shocked at how theirs only one food-stand on that street, compared to one street with like 50 stands, so I was curious as to how the process works exactly, now please stop talking to me and go to your Bikram Yoga classes okay?

Japadog is opened right by Sutton Place Hotel so I'm going to assume the city issued them the street vendor license as the only place on that stretch of the area.

I went by the Japadog stand by Scotiabank thearter this past weekend and the line up was long (from the corner till the end of the Sutton place wineshop).

Upon closer inspection they had 2 lineups. One for ordering and one for pickup. Its a good system to try and separate the lineups but the thing is hot dogs should be fast food and I'm pretty sure whoever that lined up that day waited at least 15-20mins for a hotdog

Re: the guy asking how much they make and how they do it.

Not sure but I'm pretty sure they only make a killing during the nice sunny weekends. If it was a regular weekday or rainy day I would think they make a lot less.

Its good that the couple that use to run the one stand with their kid has now hired full time help.

You guys need to stop going to the original location and start going to the new location at Burrard and Pender. Only there can you get the kick ass exclusive korokke dog...
