Workout/Training general discussion thread

So since we have an MMA thread, and several other general threads around Revscene, I think a workout and training thread might work well.

for those topics that dont really need a whole new thread. observations, goals, achievements, funny stories, questions and even the odd picture of some freakish beefcake legs.

Well, since I hurt my back and it's not 100% so I can't really do deadlifts or heavy squats any more. My only goal is maintenance right now

Doing p90x right now in week 8 of 13, will post before and after pics when done. Goal first time around is to get lean, during the summer I bulked up about 15 lbs, but then got bored of working out and lost it.

been working out for about 3 months now (since august) with a trainer (also a mod here) and i'm feeling pretty good. definitely feel a lot more energized and lazy when i DONT do anything. my eating habits are still kinda sucky (1-2 meals a day) but i'm trying to improve.

losing quite a bit of fat and gaining more muscle (especially in the arms--got little guns). my endurance has improved and i'm quite happy with the results. i've been away and suffering from jetlag so i'm been out for a couple weeks now. hoping to get back into the zone within this week.

I've missed 2 or 3 weeks in the past 2 months, and feel like shit. I can't wait to get back to the gym, but I keep getting shitty coughs and can't sleep at night (fell asleep last night after 7am, woke up at 1pm)

It feels good to work out again. Staying in a hotel with a gym so that makes things easy as I don't have to go pay for drop in somewhere. Gonna do P90x with my co-worker after Christmas...

Berz out.

workout 5 or 6 days a week. it feels great! i normally workout once a week with the bf where he pushes me waaaaay past what i think i should be doing. my abs and back are still sore from saturday and it hurts when i sneeze, cough, or laugh =/

have not really noticed the fat loss but definitely muscle gains. i love it when i look in the mirror and i see a new shadow somewhere =P

Yea left shoulder when doing incline presses and shoulder presses always seems to ache a bit... I enjoy the ache though it reminds me I'm getting in shape.

No, i don't get tired. I can't even miss one day. If i don't go, then I don't feel right. I'm doing resistance and cardio training. I use to just go 3-4 days a week and do 1 day of MMA, but I didn't noticed any gains so i switched it up to 7 days.

I've also cut out alcohol and coffee. Gotta make some sacrifices in life to get what you want.

I'm sure some others have tried this before but some nights instead of going to the gym I get myself out for a jog and head to a park/school with a playground and train there. Exercises include a variety of pull ups, dips, and whatever else I can get done using the playground. It's actually quite fun and definitely a nice work out away from the weight room. Dress appropriately and have yourself a nice winter work out!

absolutely working out in a playground is alot of fun.

believe it or not i really enjoy chopping firewood and things like that. its what i call rocky training instead of gym training. thats why i love my job, working out in the gym can never equal real world strengh building work.

I'm trying to get back into shape from spraining my ankle in the summer. Gained 20 lbs just sitting around eating wings and drinking beer So I've been back in the gym for 2 months, and so far I'm closing in on the 10lbs lost mark. Just this week I have started a 6 week circuit training program. 2 days in and it's brutal. I'm so excited to try the rest of this routine to see if I can get back in shape.

Question about cardio: Should I be drinking protein shakes after cardio? I'm gonna implement cardio days into my routine and wondering if those shakes are counter intuitive.

ya that works the best.... your body feels/wants some protein after a workout

Top tip: if you're going to do intense cardio (like HIIT) don't do it at 10pm. I couldn't sleep until like 7am last night because I was so jacked from the workout
