the rickster, how was Antigua .. People kept telling me cheap that place is, but I didn't get enough time to visit when I was in Guatamala.

i wouldn't go as far as calling it cheap.

1 canadian dollar is 2.6 east carribbean dollars, but nothing you buy on the island is from the island, so the prices are inflated due to high shipping costs. so factor in the higher than normal cost for things like coca-cola and it snowballs into huge inflations for things like hotels. its a relatively poor country with a poorly run government and the locals don't really like caucasian toursists too much -- as antigua was formerly under british rule and locals were employed as slaves to mill sugar and whatnot.

most of the tourists that go there for vacation stay on the resorts, and if they wander off onto any of the 365 beaches they're hounded by merchants and drug dealers.

i could go on and on about the strangeness of that country, but i digress.
