Trey was shot on the right side through his back and probably his lung which means he is likely dead. If he wasn't shot through the lung then he was still hit through a major artery and that's why the blood was coming out...either way there was an entry and exit wound which in most cases you're fucked :p

I read this somewhere: Trey isnt coming back, he will be on E.R. next year to replace that doctor thats leaving (Carter - Noah Wyle) and Caleb just wanted too much money

Trey was straddling Ryan...Marissa shot Trey from a higher level so the bullet would angle downwards and at an angle. Since Trey and Ryan weren't lying stomach to stomach then the bullet doesn't come anywhere near him and should have landed to the left of Ryan
